Hi I have a question. I followed a link to this yesterday and he says these tiny little pin size blood dots are babesiosis rash. I began to get these exact things when I became very sick.

My question is I've never read about these and I've never seen anyone say this is a babs rash except for on this site. Google returns no other mentions of it. I absolutely have these now, so I curious. Does anyone know if there's any truth to this? Is this just his theory?

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so thanks for the quick help. [Smile]

Oh oh I have this all over my body!! I tested negative for Babesia, but my LLMD is convinced I have Babs based on my symptoms. Well that could explain why I'm so sick. I darn near have ALL con-infections!!

yeah, but scorpiogirl i can't find any info anywhere besides just a random pic on this one site. [Frown]

Hopefully someone else will know.

I have about thirty or so on my chest, stomach, and arms. None on legs.

It's petechiae. I believe it comes from broken blood vessels. It can be from Babs but it also can be hereditary.

That's a terrible picture. There is one red dot on that picture. I have this everywhere and it did show up after I was bitten.

I'd like to have it removed but I know it helps docs with a diagnosis.

I can't tell from this site whether these photos are actually from Dr. J or from the owner of the site, who is not Dr. J. He does not have a website, to my knowledge.

Petechia are frequently associated with vasculitis, so they are not specific to any one disease.

I know it's petechiae and like you I have them on my arms, chest and stomach but NONE on my legs.

Before I started IV treatment my right leg looked like this.

It's much better now though... so I also have Livedo Rash!! Goodness gracious!

thanks for the help guys. I guess this doesn't mean much towards a babs diagnosis. [Frown]

If anyone knows more feel free to add.

scorpiogirl, your rash looks like chickenwire rash which is caused by Bartonella. That's what it looks like in the photo.

Most rashes and skin issues are caused by Bartonella not Babesia.

Elaine,

I have tested positive for Bartonella and that rash is now gone since I started IV antibiotics about 10 weeks ago. So if that is a Bart rash then I'm heading in the right direction for I had that rash for almost 6 months maybe longer! It was so unsightly! Thanks God I can check off one less symptom! Now please just let me feel my leg and I'm home free!

Petechial rashes are like small bruises in that they do NOT blanch when you push on them. These are associated with Babesia.

Bartonella can also be small red dots, but they are from overgrowth of capillaries. They DO blanch when you push on them. My son's blanch, and are surrounded by a pale circular area... also described as chicken coop.
