So everyday I have been taking extra virgin coconut oil in some sort of food. I know its good for us. Heres the thing... I am not a fan of coconuts to begin it. I did see they have coconut pills...do they offer the same benefits???

I did not know it was good for you...but I love to cook with it...use it for ommets, salmon and basically anythign I would have used butter for or oil for...LOVE IT

Yes, they offer the exact same benefits.

I don't like to eat coconut oil too much myself, but I take handfuls of the pills every day.

Get the expeller-pressed organic coconut oil from Tropical Traditions.

It's flavorless while the standard virgin coconut oil is not.

It's a light cooking oil that is very versatile. I use it for everything.

I think it's a good oil to consider in the food category. While you can read touting of various antifungal and anti-this and that health benefits, I've never noticed it actually doing anything good, and guess the benefits are just way too mild for a lyme disease situation. (Although perhaps it is just my case, who knows...)

The thing with pills is, most capsules contain about 1/8 teaspoon of ingredients, so you'll need 24 pills to get to a tablespoon of the stuff. So, I really do think you'll need to be taking lots of pills to notice anything.

James--do you feel it has helped you, what have you noticed?

While I love drinking the young coconut milk and eat the meat, I cannot ingest the coconut oil to save my life! I love the smell, but for me it's the texture thing. Makes me gag! But I do cook and bake with it. Other ways I use coconut oil for:

Condition hair
Body Lotion
Oil pulling
Lub

Coconut is a natural anti-fungal so that may be why it's recommended. I'm doing an anti-fungal program and the first stage involved liquid caprylic acid which is extracted from coconuts.

Coconut oil is great to use for cooking and if you get the coconut butter it's great to eat by the spoonful [Smile] Just be careful because it can also trigger inflammation if you have too much and some people are just sensitive to coconut in general. I typically use cold pressed since the nutrients aren't destroyed by the heat processing of expeller pressed.

Coconut oil is loaded with caprylic acid which is an antifungal. I used to mix mine with chocolate protein powder to make it more palatable.

I tried some. Could it have triggered that severe
Abdominal pain and diahrrea episode cause man I've been sick?

Try Monolaurin it comes in pill form and is suppose to be as good if not better. Hope I spelled it right. Google it.. It is suppose to be antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial. My NP recommend it to me.

Just a suggestion.

I use organic raw coconut oil on my popcorn. The first time I tried it I hated it, but I now love it on popcorn!!

I make granola with it. It is delicious. I also bake with it.
It is supposed to be one of those wonder foods but I don't see much effect from it. Maybe I don't eat enough.

A site was posted on here where a woman gave it to her husband, diagnosed with dementia, and he greatly improved after just a few weeks.

Scorpio....try it in your coffee! De-lish! Might have a greasy upper-lip but hey, no texture problem!!

I rub it all over and use it as a massage oil for sore muscles. Easily absorbed by the skin and it DOES make a difference in the way I feel!

This stuff tastes better than ice cream. Lyme friendly and you can eat it straight out the jar.

..a bit fatty for fry bugs.

Randibear:

Do you handle fats well? Its basically pure fat, which can make things down there a bit quicker. Also, do you think you may have yeast problems? If you did, it could be a reaction to the coconut oil.

I was surprised that Dr. OZ likes coconut oil. He says it does not get stored as fat but is used for energy for the body and brain.

I like the organic coconut cream from Tropical Traditions. It's about 70% coconut oil, and tastes fantastic! I eat it by the spoonful right out of the jar.

They also carry expeller pressed coconut oil, if you don't like the taste, and organic virgin coconut oil.

They often have good sales, which is when I stock up.

Best,

Cass A
