I wanted to post this before but just couldnt.

I tried to find your post about people talking and you not getting the info but couldnt.

If the people around you insist on speaking in a rapid fire way maybe you could cut down on the noise around you.

For me its volume, consistant lous volume especailly certain pitches like higer voices usually womens is worse.

I don't know if you hearing is heightened with your sound sensitivity, mine is.

If I need to cut down on sound I will wear one earplug. Or put both earplugs in but kinda loose.

I use heoros brand the beige one. My mom gets them from walmart i am sure the internet sells them.

It really cuts down on the sound but i can still hear what they are saying and I am not cringing from the pain of the sound senstivity so i can focus.

they are really good at blocking out sound completely if you need them to. I have to wear them if the dishwasher is running or mom is vaccuming. Only way I can be in the same house with certain sounds. and i am homebound so these earplugs are great for me.

Just a thought. something that has helped me.

I'm posting on this to bring it to the top since it appears you have written this for KAM and I'm not sure that she has seen it.

Thanks Azure and Cathy.

It is a combo of things with me. I had a new person come for the hour to help clean things up around here.

I talked too much to her and I listened to much to what she had to say.

Thankfully, the excedrin brought down the inflamation before I got to the point of tossing my cookies.

Your post reminded me to put on the peltor ear protection muffs when she comes next time.

It seems people get it that I have trouble talking to them due to the brain.

but, they dont' get it that that part of the brain that listens or processes has yet to return.

Yes. Sound is part of it. And tone. But, I there also is something else going on. I need lots of quiet.

Even listening to the TV is out most of the day. Music is out. Listening to books on tape is out.

reading is out.

Azure...re thought this and I am going to try ear plugs again.

I had tried them in the past and they didnt' work out.

But, maybe the ones you suggested will help.

Thanks
