I just started taking Biaxin and have a nasty metallic taste in my mouth from it? Anybody have any ideas on how to combat this problem, or do I need to invest in a lot of mints? It was the worst waking up in the middle of the night. Yuck!
Thanks in advance, gadogirl Posted by sammy (Member # 13952) on :
Drink lots of water, suck on sugar free mints, and chew gum. I found it bothered me less when i kept my mouth moist. If I got dry then the taste waste was bad.

As sammy said, drink water every time it bothers you (constantly, I know!). Remember that even sugar free candy or gum can grow yeast.
Someone said potato chips helped, but that is not so good either!!
I used water myself.

I was told that killing bacteria releases heavy metals. I'd add a binder for heavy metals. The archives are full of information about how to bind heavy metals. I use biopure microsilica.
Terry I'm not a doctor

Eventually you won't notice the taste. Seriously. The taste was so horrible in the beginning it would wake me up at night.

Thanks for all the ideas. Unfortunately I have to report that I ended up having a bad "digestive" reaction to Biaxin, and need to wait until my next LLMD appt to get another 2nd antibiotic. Uggh...
