Three summers ago I woke up one morning with very sore knees. I had been walking on the beach of Lake Michigan and thought I was just out of shape as I hadn't walked on the beach since the last summer. I figured they would get better but they never have and I have been to an orthopedic dr. for torn maniscus and he says I have knees that look to be 20 yrs. older than I am. Says arthritis is the culprit. It seems strange to me as I look back on it how quickly my knees became sore and swollen. My 20 yr. old son has been diagnoised with Lyme and co-infections last Feb. 2011 and in treatment with a LLDR. Has anyone ever had Lyme with only knee swelling and arthritis. I don't seem to have it anywhere else. The more I read on Lyme the more I wonder if my quick onset of arthritis could be those nasty spirochetes. Thanks for input you may have.

mine started in the knees for 3 yrs then gallbladder removed, (c4-5) many small things added on over the next few years then the blood clots and finally a LLMD saying I have chronic lyme and was probably 10 yrs ago when bite...
yup,bit while turkey hunting the spring before my knees were DX's with arthritis... asteo...
find a lyme doctor and get tested.

Mine started in the knees as well but quickly progressed to most all joints.

I had my knee start hurting one day and then it became so bad I couldn't walk to the bathroom and had to quit my job. It stayed like that for years. I thought my knees were seriously injured some how under the skin. But then one day they just went away and were almost all better. (I got a whole new set of problem the day that happened but that's another story.) But yeah, that day your knees hurt was probably the lyme.

and yes i had just my knee hurt for a while until the rest of my body and head go to hell.

The classic lyme symptom is "arthritis" in the knee or swollen knee. It is called "lyme arthritis."

Get to a good lyme doctor right away and watch the "arthritis" go away!

It is lyme and not arthritis!

Same as with the others, I had a very swollen and arthritic knee before it progressed to the other joints and nerve/muscle pains. No other joint was as swollen as that one knee though.

For me, It took about 4 months of just the knee being swollen, developing a terrible limp and muscle atrophy before the other stuff happened.

Interestingly, it chose the knee that I already had arthritis and previous injuries to.

Can you see your son's LLMD?
