Lyme is known to cause alcohol intolerance.

Also, if you're on Flagyl (or Tindamax), the medication is incompatible with alcohol.

Some detoxing may help some, such as a bath soak with epsom salts or baking soda...

oh my. I tried a few sips of beer last year after treating for a few months. Bad idea. I got a little woozy. The next day I felt like a truck hit me. I don't even miss beer at this point, and that was one of those things I didn't think I could live without.
- If your treating with antibiotics, it is common to barf when you drink. Even if you skipped them, theyre still in your blood.

I had an N/A beer the other night, and my bart symptoms went through the roof for 48 hours. Not fun. And it was only 1 N/A beer. WTF?

If you are off abx, then It seems the Lyme could be kicking your butt still, and lowering your immune system with alchohol gave you a glimpse.

I had a Heineken Tuesday night (first beer in years) and Wednesday I had the worst case of vertigo. I'm only just now getting over the dizziness. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

1 alcohol drink equals 10 to a person with lyme.

Sweet! This sounds like a great way to save money! [Smile]

"Bartender, I would like one tenth of a cup of beer for me, and one tenth of a shot of whiskey for my friend."

2-3 times a year I kick up my heels and indulge in some wine. Not a lot, 1-2 small glasses. I have not had any negative reaction to it. And I am taking Tindamax!

There have been a couple of times of where I thought I wanted some & then just after a sip, It didn't appeal to me. That did not happen pre-Lyme.

James, I love your sense o' humor!!!

Reminds me of the time I got drunk for money - the LAPD wanted to test reflexes so all us college students thought we'd have a good ole time doing that one -

I wasn't much of a drinker anyway, so a tenth of anything would get me drunk. Problem was, they didn't tell us they weren't going to release us until our blood alcohol levels went down. So the $25 pay for a couple hours testing turned into about $1/hour by the time we got out of there!

Ok, on a more serious note, lack of ability to handle alcohol in the first couple of years after that tick bite was one of my early rather puzzling symptoms...

I used to drink (and I can't say I wasn't much of a drinker but I didn't have a problem), I looooooved going out and having cocktails but I stopped because it suddenly made me feel so sick. I would feel like someone took an ax to my head and split it in two after I had a beer. When my friends saw me refuse drinks when we went out, they said "wow, you really are sick".

Than I was so sick I couldn't go out let alone drink, and now after 6 years of antibiotics, I've finally had a few drinks this summer...I have to say, it's been lovely. A Pina Colada and no bad effects.

I may be homeless because of LD...but at least I have a blender.
