Hi Everyone,
I'm writing in hopes that you can give me a little moral support. I'm scared & worried and don't know what to do...I'm being treated for chronic lyme and started doxy 100 mg twice daily.

Around day 20 I noticed an increase in head discomfort (this is one of my main symptoms that I've dealt with for years) I'm having tingling in my scalp, vision problems in the eye on that side of my head and overall just feel terrible.

I'm not sure if I should take a day off from abx, go to my gp and ask for an MRI (had one a year or two ago for similar complaints and all came back normal) or just ride it out. I'm just scared that maybe it's not a herx and could be something else. I've been treated in the past and experienced similar symptoms and ended up stopping treatment in fear and I don't want to do that again, but I am experiencing panic attacks and a great deal of anxiety.

Any guidance would be so greatly appreciated. Please tell me I'm not losing it...

First question: do you know if you have co-infections? My son had terrible panic and anxiety and I think it's primarily from his Bartonella infection as he has responded almost miraculously to rifampin and minocycline. Mino is very good at crossing the blood-brain barrier and clearing the psychiatric and neurologic symptoms.

Second, also based upon my son's experience, judicious use of psych meds can help you get through the worst of this until the antibiotics get to work.

If you had a clear MRI just last year I think perhaps it's Herx you are experiencing and the anxiety that goes with it.

Thanks Susie,
My doc is planning on treating me with a variety of abx to cover co infections, but wanted to start me out slowly so I didn't get hit too hard.
By psych meds, do you mean something like a Cymbalta? I was taking this in the past, but stopped when I was feeling better-may be time to rethink that decision. Thank you so much for your helpful suggestions and support.
