taking rifampin for bartonella for 3 days now bad mental herx i dont know what to do i keep lashing out.

How much are you taking? Daughter had to ramp up . Started at 300mg and then slowly went to full dose.

My first 3 weeks on rifampin were tough for sure.
My advice -
Try to control your tongue/mind as you can but don't feel guilty when you can't.
Try to accept where you are today and don't fight it. You don't need any more stress right now, especially the kind you put on yourself.
Try to explain to family, etc. what's going on. It's a normal herx (Bartonella vs. Rifampin) and my suggestion is to stick it out. When the herx breaks, you'll be so glad you did!
Rifampin brought me back to myself again!
You can do it!!!

My son had agitation and rages at his worst. Once it was so frightening, I had to call the police.
What helped him was to be left alone, with soothing music playing, in his darkened bedroom. Hot epsom salt baths helped, too. So did judicious use of Klonopin as needed---a benzodiazepine related to Valium.
If you can get to a LL psychiatrist, that can be helpful. My son needed a significant amount of psychotropic meds to stay out of the hospital. As the antibiotics are working, we are slowly decreasing one of his psych meds with great success. I never thought I'd see the day when psych med doses were going DOWN and not UP.
Hang in there. Think about trying to decrease stimulation as much as humanly possible. Hang in there!

BUT-i was suicidal and even tho i was living with a close friend who was a psychologist and we agreed he would keep a close eye on me...i had to lower the dose and ramp up...
IT ONLY TOOK A WEEK TO GET TO FULL DOSE
i suggest you lower dose and ramp up...you will be killing them at the lower dose and it doesnt take long to get up there
also-talk to family that can handle and support you with it...but stay away from others-it is scarey but so worth the tx in the end
good luck. remember you are killing bugs. you can do this. it wont last long.

On my third month of Rifampin, and starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I can still be a b#%*h, but I throw on some Christian music and let God take over, works like charm. Push through if you can...it is working for me. I had to back down at times. I would not take it for a day or only take 1/2 doses. I am up to full dose and feeling pretty darn good. Hang in there and maybe lower your dose and then ramp back up. It is a good drug. Sending prayers your way!

the weekends i see are going to be impossible. my boyfriend goes out with his friends, goes out to family's house where theres loud music people everywhere. not good for me.
im going crazy im missing out and its like no one realizes im gona. maybe its a relief for them.
i want to run where my bf is. i know ill cause a scene. its at the point where my bf will leave if i come to where he his in this state. what do i do? sit in my room and cry scream what?
i just want to be alone somewhere where they give me all the medicine i need- im not affecting people this way.

Ramp up means start at a low dosage and gradually increase it.
I can't imagine taking 600mg if 300 is doing this to you.
