Is it possible to get better if you take only one antibiotic at a time or does it have to be two or more at once to get better? I've been on a combination of two or three but I really feel that my body can't handle it.

Possibly with a very new infection that is Lyme only but it's impossible to know if one only contracted Lyme.

Otherwise I think it's a foolish approach. One must consider co-infections, cysts that require meds other than ABX, babesia that requires anti-malaria medications, etc.

This is too complex an illness, IMO for only one ABX or mono therapy.

Most LLMD's that are advocates of Burrascano know that you need to cover the Lyme in all 3 categories. Blood, CNS/Muscles, and Cyst.

One abx will not cover all of these areas. If that is the case in an active infection the Lyme will run rampant. Taking abx that cover all these areas seem to be intelligent decision.

I couldn't handle more than one abx and higher doses. I was sicker from the meds than the disease, thought I was herxing so stopped all meds until I could see a LLMD..

My LLMD said it wasn't me , my body couldn't handle all the meds. So she started me out on a few supplements and later a low dose of one abx every other day , then one a day.. That is where I am now and still have bad days but nothing like when I was on more meds.

Some can handle large doses and different abx and some can't.

For me its going to be low and slow .. I will probably be on abx the rest of my life. Also probotics as my doc said take one every time I turned around along with a gluten, dairy and sugar free diet.

I guess it depends on your body if it can handle the abx then all well and good but if not talk to your doctor ..Sometimes we have to figure out what works best for us..

Good luck

Thanks for all the feedback!

Lymetoo - that thread was great, exactly what I was looking for. I think low and slow is my best bet. I need to be able to function to take care of my 3 year old especially since he may be starting treatment soon.

I still have one question though. If you take one abx at a time for 6 months and then switch to another for 6 months and so on; is everyone saying that you definitely can't get better that way?
