Anybody did that test? Supposedly it would often be elevated in chronic lyme disease. I'd like to know through which lab are people testing it.

Is it the same as anti-neuronal nuclear antibody (anti-Hu)? Is Quest ok http://www.questdiagnostics.com/hcp/testmenu/jsp/showTestMenu.jsp?fn=90138.html&labCode=MET ?

Pretty sure the tests you have listed are not what you are looking for.

Hubby had tests for antibodies to various parts of both the central and peripheral nervous system back in 2003 -- before anyone knew about the connection to lyme. The labs used at that time were AAL and Immunosciences. Both labs had gone out of business, although Immunosciences recently reopened.

The Neurosciences or Pharmasan lab offered tests similar to what he had done a few years ago -- not sure if they still do or not though.

My son was tested for anti-neuronal antibodies through a research lab as part of a study. I am not aware of any specific labs which do this test.

From what I was told by our Lyme-literate Immunologist, these anti-neuronal antibodies are formed by infecting organisms and totally confuse one's own immune system, thereby causing an auto-immune condition.

I don't know if the Quest test you were asking about is the same.

My son's test results revealed he has 4 TIMES the normal amount (he has been chronically ill for 11 years).

Seibert - I looked at the new catalog of immunosciences http://www.immunoscienceslab.com/Catalog/Catalog%202010b.pdf and they dont appear to have that test anymore [Frown]

by AAL you mean http://www.manta.com/c/mmgs6hh/aal-reference-laboratories-inc or http://www.aalrl.com/ or http://www.aal-inc.com/ if it's the 2nd then maybe Genova Diagnostics picked up the test.

I also emailed pharmasan and neuroscience.

hoping - It is my understanding that animal models of autoimmunity need present infections, and that science is realizing that in the vast majority of cases autoimmune antibodies are triggered by a pathogen/food/etc, not just past damage
