Have you taken Omnicef?

What is your experience / opinion?

Thanks!

IT is a good drug. No issues whatsoever. It is tolerated very well.

Hi I took it for a month before I stopped to go on IV. I did not have any bad reactions to it, in fact I tolerated it very well. But I was not on it long enough to know if it helped.

I had no problems with Omnicef either. When I began taking it along with Zithro, I had a little improvement, but was only only on it for 2 months before new LLMD switched it. It was one well tolerated drug.

Thanks so much you all!

Seems like it is a "safe" drug but possibly not effective enough... as it feels like "my bugs" (Bb, Bart??) are going on doing more damage, even though they are slowed a little.

Did anyone have great improvements with either Minocycline or Omnicef??

It is used for lyme only and is effective on spirochetes outside the cell wall, floating around. It doesn't get them inside the cell wall. You need Doxy or Zith or Biaxin for that.

I used it initially with Ketek for Lyme treatment. Then when my Babs was relapsing AGAIN my LLMD put me back on that combo with artemissinin and Mepron. It worked great both times.

What's the normal dose of Omnicef?

My second LLMD started me on an Omnicef 600mg/day dosage with ZithroMax. It is a safe starter drug she used to gauge reaction before using more agreesive therapy.

Note sure what a normal dose is... but its what you can tolerate and what's appropriate for your condition.

I think Omincef is a third generation drug from the Cipro family (someone with more knowledge please correct me).

The Omnicef was later rotated back and forth with Suprax and Augmentin to keep the keets off guard, while I was on Mepron and Zith for 4 and a half months.

good luck

I believe Omnicef and Cipro are in different families. I have been on Omnicef for the past few months. I too have been wondering what it hits!

I have had improvement during this period but I can't say if that's due to the Omnicef.
