Quick ?... when u use saline to flush your picc line, should you feel it going into you? I felt a cold rush when I flushed it.. I'm confused if it is supposed to be unclamped when you flush the tubing.. sorry just dont really understand how far up the tubing you're supposed to be flushing

Yes, I feel it and I taste it too. Pretty nasty stuff. Heparin is better. It's normal.
Yes you have to unclamp or you wouldn't be able to flush the line at all!

Thanks I got freaked out that I felt it bc I dont feel the meds going in.. but its going in slower so that makes sense Posted by scorpiogirl (Member # 31907) on :
Yeah I don't know why it feels cold to me too when the saline and heparin are both room temperature! Makes no sense. But if you flush it slowly it's not as bad. It's the taste of it that gets to me.

It feels cold because your body is roughly 25-30 degrees warmer than room temperature. Posted by scorpiogirl (Member # 31907) on :
Yeah but the heparin doesn't feel cold only the saline! That's why it's so weird for me.
