I don't know how much I'm supposed to post here, so I'll be vague.

I saw a dr. this week for my first visit. I was Dx'd last week by PCP. I don't know how long I've had Lyme. I've really had no symptoms but have eye problems which led to my being tested and diagnosis. I managed to get into a Lyme dr. this week. Too quick or not, I don't know, but I wanted to get this ball rolling.

Is it common to alternate between abx? I'm on four. I take three of them on the same days and another one on two consecutive days. I have two days a week all of them.

Also, has anyone taken colloidal silver?

One more...should liver function be tested regularly?

This is all so new and I'm just trying to navigate all of it.

Thanks.

Definitely should be checking the liver while on antibiotics.

You can post which meds you are on, but not the dosages.

Colloidal silver I've taken small amounts of. I'm a little wary of it. Not convinced it works, either.

Glad you found someone to help you. Hope he/she is good! [Smile]

OK...thanks.

I'm on Doxy, Azrithromycin and Omnicef 3 days a week and Flagyl 2 days. Two days off.

I know it's common to be on multiple abx, but is it common to not take them every day and to alternate between days?

I'm not sure about the silver either, after reading more about it. I'm sure it would take a lot, but I don't really want to chance turning blue.

Some doctors do the pulse therapy. I don't know much about it.

You could use the silver a while just to see. It may help keep yeast away.

Are you on high quality probiotics?

Pulse therapy...it has a name!

Probiotics - yes. Dr. wants me on two. Perque Digestaguard and Saccromcyes boulardi. I had to order the second one and haven't started it yet.

I'm also drinking Kefir.

I hated pulsing. Didn't seem to work for me. But I also think the doc was doing it wrong.

Good on the probiotics!! Never heard of the first one, but anything other than what you find at Walgreen's or Wal Mart is good...lol.

I've been told by two different lyme docs that pulsing is good at the END of your treatment (not the beginning) to bring out the last of stubborn lyme.

I'm no doc, but I wonder if pulsing at the start of treatment helps lyme become immune to the abx since there aren't enough abx to kill it.

Is your doc ILADS? Maybe consider Burrascano's guidelines?

ugh...really?

I could kick myself, but I forgot to specifically ask if he is ILADS. He did mention Burrascano, though.

Maybe I did go to a doc too quick.

There are a few more docs in my area. I got more names here. I guess it wouldn't hurt to check with one of them as well.

I think many here do pulse... not sure how they're doing. I would want to be covered by abx everyday... but there may be some wisdom in allowing the spirochetes to come out of hiding also.

If you got in with a lyme doc in a week, that is typically a bad sign. A good lyme doc will have a waiting list because he is in great demand. Of course, you could have just happened to hit it lucky and called just as someone cancelled their appointment. But, that is rare.

Give us the first letter of his last name. Then, I'll know who you are talking about and can tell you what I know about him.

Lyme docs do not all treat the same way because this is still an experiment. No one thing works for everyone.

What your protocol suggests is that the first three drugs are intended to provoke alternate forms of the spirochetes, and then hit these forms with a drug that works on them. I do see some logic in this.

At some point I would be asking about coinfections.
