help please....am trying to figure out if: 1-increased burning/tingling on round, vague EM looking area under eye (size of quarter)and 2- increased tingling in a patch on back on one side that is starting to cross over to other side (feels like Shingles, but has never erupted, likes heat....had for over a year) Am trying to figure out if symptoms could be sign of herx and good or a indicative of Lyme getting worse...bitten in 1999..no abx for 8 months....have been treated consistently since 2001. Positive for Babesia..currently on Amoxocillon, Keetek and as of today atovaquone/proguanil (have done Medpron in past)
Thank you for any input!

I also got the burning patch on one side of my back after starting amox treatment. I too thought it might be shingles. It lasted about a week and then went away. I believe it is a peripheral neuropathy and the resulting herx from treatment. Pains of this kind (tingling on side of nose as well) seem to come and go as I continue on the abx, now IV meds. I am not sure if there is anything you can do about it. I keep a record of these symptoms to discuss with my doctor.

thanks.....it is odd! I find that heat feels really good on it....and also Eucerin calming cream (and the bath oil) I developed it during a time of minimal treatment...has gotten stronger with herx...oh well...not the worst symtom:)

I have this symptom too, driving me absolutely crazy. Really bad, burning patches on my back, feels like open sores but nothing is visible on skin. Doctor suggested it might be a herx, so I went off abx (flagyl, tetracycline, Rifampin pulsing) for 7 days and don't see much if any improvement. The pain does move around a bit, up and down along the left side of my spine. Also needle-prick type pains on arms, hands occasionally. Some relief from taking Benadryl.
Also treating for yeast proactively (Diflucan) and taking probiotics. I will try applying heat, that sounds promising.
