Hi,
I have been taking IV Rocephin for 3you. Weeks now and have not herxed. I usually herx after 3 days, and it can be really intense for me. The intense herxing subsides after about a week, and then I have a daily, fairly mild herx for the remainder of the time I am on that antibiotic. It has been the same for every antibiotic I take.

But with the rocephin, I have not had any new symptoms. I actually feel better than I have in a long time. I still have major brainfog and fatigue, but no flu like feeling. Just wondering other people's experiences. Thanks in advance for sharing.

I'm on IV Rocephin too but didn't have a clear herx symptom as well. I could not find a pattern right away but now (after a few months on it) I am starting to tell a pattern where there are certain weeks worse off than others.

It is hard to tell because if you are taking meds for co-infections those herxes can confuse things.

But be glad you are not getting any new symptoms and are starting to feel better! That is so awesome! I'm glad for you. Some people just don't herx but gradually feel better over time so maybe that is what you are experiencing.

Just make sure to take your Actigal to protect the gall bladder and drink lots of fluids.

And monitor your liver count regularly. Mine is climbing steadily ever since goin on Rocephin but I plan on keeping it from going much higher by doing castor oil packs, etc to aid the liver.

I was on Rocephin for 4mo. I took it to clear my last remaining symptoms of cognitive dysfunction. While it didn't do a thing for my brain it cured all my digestive problems. I could actually go to the bathroom like a normal person after years of ibs, sluggish colon, constipation. A week after I came off, all my digestive problems were back.

I also never herxed one moment on it. My colon loved the stuff.

Thanks for the responses. Penguingirl...you are not having a lymebrain moment, it was a typo. I am using my phone tonight, and I just installed a new server update. The new one keeps changing things that I write, and putting things in that I did not write. I edited my original response though, so thanks for pointing it out. Damn technology... I thought it was supposed to make life easier! Certainly not a "smart phone"!

TS96 -- I would strongly look into the posibility that you have bartonella and that that is causing your G.I. issues. Rocephin is bacteriostatic for bartonella but not bacteriocidal.

Well, its official... I am herxing now. All my typical flu symptoms are back. I had a major rage episode last night. Crying, yelling, throwing things, and heart beating out ofa my chest. I felt like I was loosing my mind. It felt a little like I was a premenstrual fifteen year old girl again who just got dumped by my boyfriend for my best friend. I had a suspicion that a herx was brewing. Now I feel awful, but it is strangely reassuring. Thanks for all your input.
