I am curious about how viruses could give a false positive on Lyme and Co. testing.

Could someone explain this to me?

DS, had high viral titers three months after HD IVIG. Could this be why he is not getting better?

What is HD?

What were the titer levels before? IGM and IGG.

What bands are showing? Tested before and after IVIG?

HD= high dose?

HD equals High dose. I'm sorry I was not very clear in my thoughts. He was tested for Lyme long before the IVIg, but thought it was negative. He has only been tested once for the viruses and that was three months after the IVIg.

There are probably too many variables here to come to any real conclusion, but I was wondering if anyone else had viral issues that complicated their lyme picture.

He tested IGG positive for EBV, HHV, Coxsackie B1, B2, B3, B5, and B6 and Parvovirus ab B19 (very high).

To me the question is if a viral IGG could/would show up on a Lyme test under IGM. ?

My opinion is to test for lots of pathogens and treat what looks to be most obviously wrong.

If he has a very high Parvo B19, that could be what is making him sick.

Testing "positive" for a virus means little...but if the IgG antibody titer is very high (in the hundreds eg 1:320) or above 10 or so (eg: 13.7) I'd discuss with a doctor.

It is also possible to have both chronic viral and chronic bacterial pathogens making a person sick. That is the case for me.

Best, Timaca
