I keep reading as I believe I have a positive test for lyme....and I find people stating that lyme is not curable. Rather it goes into remission?? Like cancer?? Is this true? I guess I am hoping it's not. I thought it was curable with antibiotics, and I understand the treatment is a little different for everyone. Does anyone also know how the intensity levels of the band onthe WB plays a role in the lyme? Does the signify how long you have had it, or how bad of a case you have? I guess I just have a lot of questions....I sure hope it is treatable as I want to get better soon!
Thanks

Its just like treating the disease to be under control and live in harmony with it.

Don't think about that. There are many other diseases like lyme. Even herpes. Once you get, you got for life. But it DOES NOT mean you will have symptoms forever!!!

Treat it, get it to remission, and forget about it!!! Do you think people who's got bouts of herpes think about herpes when it is not active?? Same for lyme.

My doctor says treatable but no cure, unless caught in the early stages, very early.

But if you're treated for, say, a year on antibiotics, and you still have symptoms, what happens? You keep going on antibiotics? I've read you take antibiotics until symptoms cease. If you still have symptoms after a long time on antibiotics, what then? You just get treated for each lingering symptom?

You have to get rid of the lyme to get rid of the symptoms.

I'm symptom-free and have been for a couple years now. Unless I'm here moderating, I don't even think about Lyme anymore.

Remission is symptom free, but as far as I know, there is no way to know if it is gone for good because you can't prove that with any testing.

ZachsMom,

You ask what if been treating for a year and still sick?

Well, for some it can take many years of combination Rx, rotations and support supplements to see the light of day.

Lyme is rarely ever just lyme. There are so many other tick borne infections and other system dysfunction to consider.

If you can, watch all you can of the annual ILADS conference. Free video streaming today and tomorrow.

They may be done for today, but some of the Q & A may still be on and off.

Check tomorrows schedule and try to get a sitter, have meals cooked tonight, etc. so that you'll be able to watch as much as possible on SAT.

Right now (5.15 pm ET, they are replaying some of a pediatric LLMD's Q & A session).

We have seen the work CURE used many times. Dr. D in Mass recently used the word "cured" again at the IOM workshop in describing some patients.

I believe TF, Lymetoo, and Wild Condor are cured members here.

Dr. B and Pamela Weintraub were fully cured last I heard.

Well I guess there could be some light at the end of the tunnel...now the question is how long? I see the doc tomorrow to hopefully start treatment. I am not gonna lie.......I am SUPER nervous about this whole ordeal! I hope I can make it alive....I always joke that I sleep so much that I fear I may never wake up...I hope I start to feel differently!
