Hi All I have not posted here for a bit and wonder how many of you are getting along. I was diagnosed with pneumonia a couple of days ago and was prescribed Levaquin. I told the doc I had some tinnitus and was concerned about Zithro but went ahead with this prescription. The first day I took Lev one of ears became quickly and intensely stuffed and I could notice an almost immediate loss of hearing in that ear. I am not overly freaked out since it seems most likely a temporary effect from whatever bugs are infecting me. I also realize that there is probably at least some risk from all abx and hearing problems. I just wonder what the general consensus here regarding the dangers of Levaquin.
Best to you all Matt

Levaquin is associated with ruptured tendons. Take it easy while you are on it and for a while afterwards. That said, it's a powerful antibiotic that will kill things others won't. I've taken it a number of times for recurrent prostatitis with no ill effects.

Thanks David- Interestingly I have had a mostly mild case of prostatitis fora couple of years and it has acted up quite a bit in conjunction with the pneumonia. As you probably know the bacterial cause for ongoing prostatitis is pretty much out of vogue with the CPPS theories claiming the cause is something related to muscle tension and the associated Wise Anderson protocol as treatment. I am not sure what to think, but the coicidence of increased prostatitis symptoms and pnuemonia is interesting
