DD seems to be having trouble regulating blood sugar.

She has allergies to many foods- nuts, dairy, oranges, coconut, gluten, eggs, yeast and many other foods.

She had her Gallbladder removed in June and does not tolerate too much fat.

She feels better when the blood sugar is in the 90's anything lower and she feels ill.

Today she ate lunch- potatoes, raw kale and carrot salad with pumpkin seeds, and chicken.

An hour later she felt ill and her blood sugar was 73.

I have felt low blood sugar has been an issue since the Lyme and Co.

It appears to be more of a problem since she began to treat Babesia with Malarone.

We see her LLND this week, but would like to know if any one else had problems with blood sugar and Babs.

Does it go away with Lyme and Co treatment? She just started treating the Babs about three weeks ago.

She did seem to have symptoms of low blood sugar before the Babs treatment.

She eats frequently and always has protein with meals and at bedtime.

Thanks for your help.

I don't have Babs, but I started having low blood sugar issues (hypoglycemic attacks) about six months after I had my gallbladder removed (it was inflamed--due to Lyme I believe).

Not sure if the low blood sugar is related to the Lyme or the gallbladder removal.

Quinoa . . . Wild Rice . . . Fish oil . . . coconut oil . . . SALMON . . . Sardines (I hate them but they are so good to me. I just scarf them down and chase with water). . . .

These have been the top helpers in my blood sugar not dropping to the floor.

I'm not sure how much fat she can eat but good fat is required for glucose stabilization. It may not take much but it has to be there for each meal. Even just a little to roll around in the mouth and signal the brain (as you said she can't handle too much).

It MAY be that if fat is given and held as long a possible in the mouth that more will be absorbed through the mouth, rather than the gut that can stress the gallbladder site (even if gone).

Just a thought, though.

I notice she ate raw kale for lunch. That might be too hard to digest. Slightly steamed is easier on my stomach.

Also - ANY stress on the adrenal / endocrine system can cause blood sugar to drop like a brick.

Adrenal support may be helpful.

I am glad that she has a LL ND. Hope you get some suggestions this week.

Thanks Keebler for the great suggestions.

Unfortunately, she has allergies to coconut and refuses all fish. [Frown]

She has KPU and I believe I read somewhere that one is not supposed to take fish oil. Sorry do not have the link.

I wonder if evening of primrose oil would be okay?

Potatoes should be avoided, as they have a high glycemic index.

Sweet potatoes are OK.

How about avocados?

Thanks, she likes avocados and will have to get her to try the sweet potatoes.

Posting this as it might help someone.

Dr. says due to no gall bladder, she is not absorbing/digesting fats.

So it was suggested to try Bile salts.

Also found out why her Vit D is low and before surgery it was coming up. No fat absorption.

If she was absorbing fats- it would help regulate the Blood sugar.
