I have acute lyme disease and on 21 days of doxy. I am suppose to get a flu shot Thursday and my PCP has approved. I'm still undecided if I want to go ahead and get it. Any thoughts are welcomed.

Welcome to Lymenet! Please keep reading, 21 days isn't enough. You also want to be sure the dosage is high enough.
I would not get a flu shot .... I never would get a flu shot. Ever. Google Dr. Mercola flu shot and read some of his material. His articles are well-footnoted.

If I were recently bitten, I would want 6-8 weeks of 200mg doxy twice a day. I sure wouldn't want to go chronic!!

At two doc's today,,,,,forgot to ask again......They are both leaning to/at Heavy Babs with me... Plus no immune system ,but adrenals don't show low on test. Now what?? Shots YES?NO.. What about other ones ??? Like for shingles etc??

I got it a few weeks ago. I know I know it's bad for people with Lyme, but I went to see my PCP and he said since the last time I had the flu I got pheumonia and was really really sick, then I needed to get it.
At first he told me not to get it because I'm pretty healthy other then the Lyme and company. I was scared, but I guess he scared me into getting it.
I felt pretty bad the next day, but then I was fine.

I agree that mercola.com is a good site to research vaccines. There are a lot of good articles there.
There are some recent studies written about there that show that vaccinated people are 2-6 times more likely to get serious illnesses in their life. Hm... sounds like those vaccines are really keeping people healthy!
The article talks about a 2003 study that showed that the autism rates in Denmark had a significant decline after the country's elimination of Thimerosol (an ingredient in vaccines which contains mercury). The CDC published reports saying that there is no link between autism and Thimerosol, and that the autism rates WENT UP in Denmark after they stopped using Thimerosol! What corruption... Can we honestly trust these people?
And don't forget that your doctors are relying on the CDC reports in order to tell you what they think is safe and what's not.

Read more about vaccines, specially the flu vaccine.
Read the LABEL of the vaccine before vaccinating, and make an INFORMED decision.
Google flu vaccine reaction, flu vaccine disease, etc and decide.
I would NEVER take any flu shot, no way. Even if I were healthy. There are MUCH better ways to prevent colds and the flu, as simple as increasing vit D intake.
If you have lyme, you have an immune system problem from start. I wouldn't risk messing up with my immune system more and get down with lyme. Some people with lyme swear that their down turn in their health started with a vaccination.
Whatever you do, read before and do when you are sure you are doing the right thing. Otherwise, avoid the stuff until you can make a better informed decision. My opinion!!!

There are papers showing the relation between vaccinations and asthma. Watch the film on Gardasil and other vaccines. The Greater Good.
The medical doctor who researched the papers had a daughter who died after vaccinations and one of her sons with autistic disorder.
She said, the information in scientific papers are out there showing problems that can arise due to vaccinations. She got them all after the death of her daughter.
She was shocked to know about the papers. One of the papers showed the relation between asthma, and vaccines, as well as arthritis and vaccines.
I had read long ago statistics concerning allergies and vaccinations, and the result was clear: non vaccinated children develop much less allergies than vaccinated children. My daughter got all shots and by 12 months was allergic to almost everything.
We're still dealing with the problem after 6 whole years of various treatments. She's better, but not healed from her allergic tendency, and tendency to have autoimmune reactions.
Get the data yourself and then decide. Giving the shot because a child has asthma sounds to me like doing more damage to the already damaged child.
That is my opinion. I would watch the film and try to get my hands on the exact paper talking about the link between asthma and vaccinations. The film can be seen until tomorrow for free, or you got to buy it.
Flu shots still have thymerosol, which is mercury. Injecting mercury inside fragile people with immune disorders (in case of asthma worsened by allergies or autoimmunity), is really the LAST thing I would do to anyone.
There is no doubt that mercury is a neuro toxin. There are hundreds of papers on that. No one questions that.
Now there are papers showing that aluminium is a neuro toxin.
Who on earth would vaccinate a child knowing that these vaccines contain, not only these 2 known neuro toxins, but things like formaldehyde??
Read the label of what is INSIDE a vaccine. You will have doubts whether these dozens of ingredients are safe.
Listen to you doc. He will recommend you the vaccine. Same medical doctors that don't believe in chronic lyme. Same medical doctors that let people untreated because their disease is not in their books, so they can't be 'real'.
The lady who had a dead child said something like:
I did everything I was told to do by the pediatrician, all the vaccinations. My daughter died because of the vaccines. I feel betrayed by the medical system.
She is a doctor, but but a psychiatric doctor. And she feels betrayed by her fellow doctors! ???
That's exactly what I felt concerning chronic lyme.
And the dentists!!! Despite all the hundreds of papers showing mercury toxicity, they still think amalgams are safe!! I trusted them once. Not anymore.
Fortunatelly, not everyone gets bad injuries from vaccines. But would you take the risk? If yes, do it informed.
You read the list of ingredients, you know there is little research on the safety of vaccines, you know that heavy metals are neuro toxins, you wrote the vaccine lot down, you read about the side effects, ....
....you know that you can't sue vaccine companies for any damage, you know that the medical community will not listen to you in case you think there is damage done, so you'll be left alone with other parents, and that there is basically no treatment for most of the damage done.
Take your responsibility and do it!! If you do an informed decision, it is much better than to do a disinformed decision like I did, because I still trusted medical doctors before I fell sick with lyme!
Today I take my responsibility and not do any procedure I don't know about, for my daughter, just because a medical professional tells me. Blindly, never more. I would first read then decide.

i'm in the middle of pneumonia and sinus infection.
my husband says "oh you need to go get a flue shot". yeah, right.
first i have lyme. second, you don't get a bloody flu shot when you have pneumonia.
geez, guys, just take a gun out and shoot me instead...

I am so torn on this issue. A high school girl here died last year from H1N1 and she was a TOTALLy healthy, active senior. That really scares me b/c if she had gotten the flu shot, she'd still be alive.
I would never get one for myself again, but I worry about my children. My son got the flu last year and was out of school the entire week with a 103 fever everyday. It really scared me. I did have him vaccinated just a few days ago, but my 5 year old who has tested positive for Lyme, I probably will not vaccinate.
I do believe I went downhill after I got my flu shot a few years ago.

My own doctor gives them but has a sign in the exam rooms showing all the CR#% that's in the shots! I'll bet he doesn't get them for himself!!

Please do not get a flu shot, especially right now. They are still trying to get rid of all the piles of flu vaccines they stock piled for the supposed "flu epidemic" last year. Many of those vaccines were prepared in a panic by different companies scurrying to cash in on the opportunity. If you haven't noticed, they are basically practically trying to give away the vaccines, every CVS clinic has a walk in, no appointment necessary. When have we EVER seen that before?
I would build up my immune system, I would not risk getting a bad vaccine. They can really mess you up for life.

The doctors are getting really aggressive in my area. My wife's obgyn tried to force a flu shot on her in her 9th month of pregnancy! And we have to practically fight off my older child's pediatrician every time we're there. There are a number of reasons why we are seeing this kind of behavior lately with the unnecessary vaccines and procedures. I believe it driven by the economic condition and dollars and cents, and not by their concern for your well being. Put your family first and always be VERY skeptical of what your doctor is saying.
