I take a Metagenics Probiotics Ultra Flora DF - 15 billion in each capsule.

If I take 4 capsules per day is that equivalent to taking 60 billion?

What probiotics would you recommend if I need to boost my intake?

Yes, it would be equal to 60 billion.

We do 200 billion per day. I wouldn't be comfortable with anything less than 100 billion per day.

Most people here recommend the VSL #3. You have to have a script for it.

We use Ultimate Flora-Super Critical Formula.

I'm pretty sure that taking 4 @ 15 billion cfu's equals 60 billion cfu's, but I'm not a doctor or a mathmetician.

or Ultimate Flora... it's 50 billion per capsule

or VSL#3 .. even more

If you can... buy it at a local health food store so it will be refrigerated. Most good ones carry it.

All - I googled VSL #3 and found this site that says a prescription is not needed. Is that correct? Earlier on this thread someone said, a prescription is needed. I just want to find out if the website posted below is reputable and I can go ahead and order it directly without precription.

If you get the VSL#3 DS you will need a prescription. It is WAY CHEAPER to do that if you have good insurance.

Just check the CFU counts!!

otherwise, you can buy the regular VSL

Not all insurance companies cover VSL#3 DS. My current one does not [Frown]

I purchase the VSL#3 capsules directly from the company website, they offer free shipping.
