While waiting to get into an LLMD (appointment in March)

My family doctor has prescribed grape seed extract tablets stating that they may make me sick in about ten days?

Has any one else used Grape seed extract as part of their plan?

What does it do?

How does it make you sick?

Could it be Grapefruit seed Extract that I am suppose to be taking?

[confused] [confused]

I use grapeseed extract as well. It was about $40. a bottle, little expensive I think. I never got sick with taking it. I had 2 doctors reccomend it for me.

It shouldn't be that expensive, JAC.

Hopeful.. I imagine that your dr meant that you will herx on it. That could happen in about 4 days.

Well I did pay $37 for a bottle of 60 tablets. Small price if it works.

But what would cause a Herx on it. It is an anioxident not an anti-paristic?

You can remove this dosage if needed, but he prescribed 500mg a day

Mine is by Enzymatic. It is an antioxidant and I take 1 three times a day. $40. was for a bottle of 90 capsules too.

I used a liquid. "Citricidal"

But I'm sensitive to acids and can't use it.

It can kill candida, parasites, and perhaps a few spirochetes.

Grape seed extract may be a form of resveratrol. Dr. Buhner recommends it in another form - as japanese knotweed. Look into resveratrol & Dr. Buhner's protocol & use of Japanese knotweed. It has many health benefits.

I'm not sure if it will make you herx but it's a good thing to take if you are ill or well.

FYI - http://planetthrive.com/2011/03/resveratrol-red-wine-source/

Not that I would contradict your doctor but Buhner says it has to be from Japanese knotweed. It's alot cheaper if you get it from knotweed, too.

Grapefruit seed extract is something different. It's usually a liquid but may be in a different form in Europe. It can be used as a cyst buster or anti-fungal.

I take grapefruit seed extract in pill form, exactly for the reason sparkle mentioned--cyst busting. My body needed a rest from flagyl, so I have been on this. I do herx, but not as bad as on flagyl.

I believe it also has antiinflammatory capabilities. Good luck.

Love finding out that doctors are prescribing grape seed extract!!! I think that's awesome.

In 1993, I was bitten by a dog. I couldn't move my hand for 6 months, and when it moved, the pain never went away. I was diagnosed with "chronic reactive arthritis." Strange, no arthritis medicine worked to relieve my pain.

I tried a lot of things... and finally one worked for me. Grape seed extract. I've been taking it ever since. Not all brands are made the same. Some can cost $100 a week to stay pain free because you have to take so many pills! The brand I take is very potent and it costs me about $240 a year to stay pain free. I don't sell it, so you have to find someone who does. I go to ebay. It is called USANA Proflavanol

Recently, my LLMD suggested I take Japenese Knotweed (among other Buhner herbs) and I can take less grape seed extract. I get that from http://1stchineseherbs.com

Yes, I started taking Grape Seed extract for sinus issues. Grape Seed Extract is a good anti-oxidant and Cell membrane protection plus I have other good things about it.

Never noticed any sickness with it unless you are allergic to grapes, not sure about a herx. I only take a 100 mg a day, due to my sensitives but have taken 200 mg a day.

My pharmacist orders mine and I pay $9.00 for 60 caps.. Swanson's also have some good prices and their products are good.

Never been prescribed it, but it is part of an excellent supplement I have taken during different points in time, including now. It's called "Resveratrol Plus" by Country Life. This product also has the japanese knotweed and grape skin extract and pine bark extract.
