Hi, I recently got my notice that my Medicare will start in March. Before then I have to choose what plan to sign up for.

I know there are others here who have been through this. Can someone tell me what medicare advantage plan is best for Lyme patients and about prescription drug plans?

I'm in Ohio
Thanks, True

I would sign up for Medicare part A and B.

I have Part D Humana prescription coverage which

has covered all meds but tindamax which I will get

thru compounded pharmacy.

Also have bcbs Medigap policy which covers 20%

medicare doesn't cover.

I haven't looked into advantage plans

What is Medigap? Is it expensive? We have Medco for prescriptions. It did cover all meds but Tinamax. It even covered IV Doxy.

Thanks for the replys I was wondering which was best Medigap or a Medicare advantage plan. I guess I will have to do more research. I just find it is always best to get answers from people that have experience with them.

my sister lives in ohio. she researched this alot.

she had to sign up for both parts a and b. apparently one only covers office visits, meds, etc., and the other covers hospitals stays. or at least that's what i think she said.

i still have my bc/bs and will have it for another 3 years and then i have to decide to.

she did say that she has to pay around 200 per year for the medicare. funny, but it thought you didn't pay anything.

Randibear, I know you have to pay but I guess it can vary greatly as does coverage. I've been reading the different plans and my head is swimming. It can cost around $7000 a year for medical and prescription coverage. That's alot.
I believe Medicaid is where you pay nothing or something very minimal.

Medigap our plans that cover the 20% medicare

doesn't cover.

I pay about 30-35/month. I usually go to the dr.

more than 2 x/month, so if medicare pays 80% of 100

dr. bill - medigap would cover 20% and I more than breakeven.

I havem't looked into Advantage plan but Humana covered my IV rochephin

I just signed up. I chose CVS for the Plan D for drugs. I found a site that tells you the costs and what it covers. You can list all of your drugs and it will tell you if it is covered and what the cost will be.

I have not done medigap yet.
