Has anyone submitted to Medicare for the Fry protomyzoa lab test? I'm supposed to have the test next week but according to the forms have to submit $495.00 or my credit card information to have the testing performed. I think Medicare will pay if the right codes are written. Does anyone know what the correct codes are for reimbursement? Thanks!

You don't have to pay directly, if you have medicare. Just call and speak with billing.

I just got on it... Can I still get to Doc's that get it?? (codes as mentioned above) and I have secondary, to cover last 20%. But so far 2 offices have said no to medicare patients.... Can you submit bills and get reimbursed... This is so new to me . I had great insurance through United UMR. but at 54 once I was on medicare that was that,.., no choices.
Will I still be able to get decent care on this??? At least it's something ,but still.....??? Posted by Abxnomore (Member # 18936) on :
Medicare will only pay if your doctor is a medicare provider meaning he has subscribed to accepting medicare. If he has not, nothing will be reimbursed.

The doctor that I have does accept Medicare. but it's up to Medicare to decide if they'll pay for this test.
I spoke to someone in billing at Fry Labs. He wasn't very helpful. He said that Medicare pays sometimes, but it depends, and they don't know what the criteria is. There have to be certain codes that Medicare accepts and then pays for the test.
norma-most Lyme doctors don't accept Medicare, but most Infectious disease doctors do accept Medicare. Codes are "diagnosis codes" that Medicare uses to determine if they will pay for whatever diagnosis your doctor writes down.
