I have been happily living with a very low level of lyme symptoms for the past 2.5 years.
Sometimes I'm off all treatment and still feeling decent. Sometimes I'm on antibiotics.
Suddenly, I have awful knee pain, and when I jog or take long walks, my knee(s) swell and really hurt.
I realized that the lyme may be sneakily destroying all my cartilage, without my noticing.
Can anyone tell me what I can do to help save my cartilage?
I read about glucosamine. thank you so much for any other ideas!

Buhner has a good protocol for that...
Here is a copy paste from Planet thrive, Buhner answers a lyme sufferer:
Dear Stephen, I just read your book Healing Lyme. My symptom is arthritis. I tested positive for lyme but my doctor still says my knee arthritis/cartilage deterioration is due to activity (sports/wear and tearIm 43) not lyme.
I dont believe him. I took oral antibiotics for two months and intravenously for one month. After 2 months off antibiotics my knees have started to hurt again. So should I take every herb listed on the core protocol, plus the arthritis protocol?
Stephens response: Here is what I would do to begin with: Knotweed Cats claw Teasel root tincture Glucosamine sulfate 4,000 mg daily (2,000 am and pm)
If that doesnt take care of it within two-three months, add: Biosil Cal/mag effervescent powder from Thorne Research Vitamin D3, 20,000 IU daily
And possibly: Selenium 200 mcg daily Zinc picolinate 50 mg daily until symptoms resolve

From Public Health Allert, another Buhner interview:
For collagen support, glucosamine sulfate at a dose of 500mg three times daily is often beneficial. Pregnenelone at a dose of 200mg daily is useful for many collagen diseases.
Orthosilicic acid such as BioSil at a dose of 6-20 drops daily may be useful. Echinacea is very good for formation of collagen though it must be taken in larger doses.
An effervescent solution of vitamin C stimulates the production of collagen.
Using these collagen supportive products can help to restore collagen at a rate faster than the Lyme spirochetes are able to break it down.

I am finding that a combo of teasel root tincture drops and curcumin capsules prevents knee and ankle joint swelling.
