I have only been able to take 1 teaspoon of mepron per day just because I can't eat two meals due to gall stones; nausea, etc. but been on mepron for a couple of months. Is it possible to suddenly get the side effects of deep depression and then daily afternoon anxiety from Mepron after taking it for quite some time without these side effects? I hope someone out there can tell me because I have never had such a deep depression with such imobilizing anxiety ever before and tried to stop the mepron yesterday just to see if this was the cause. Some say die off reaction, but I thought you didn't herx with Babesia? I guess I just need to find out if you can suddenly get these bone chilling depression side effects suddenly after being on the drug for so long without a problem.
Thanks for any input, advise, as I think I could be ready to end it all if it wasn't for the fact that I adopted a sweet little beagle and she needs me!

Beagle,
Please check with your doctor to be sure there is no other cause. Once that is settled...
Depression is very common with Mepron. VERY common.
Please read this link describing the Mepron Blues and know you are not alone.
The link above can be found in the "stickie post" under Quick Links.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur:
Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest or throat; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness);
anxiety;
change in the amount of urine produced; dark urine;
depression;
fever; flu-like symptoms; pale stools; red, swollen, blistered, or peeling skin; severe or persistent stomach pain; shortness of breath; unusual bruising or bleeding; white patches in the mouth; yellowing of the eyes or skin.
we got a puppy when I was first sick, I thought I had adopted 4 kids. It took so much energy, but now she is my best friend.
The best thing we did is crate train and put it a doggy door when she was older.
Mepron can be icky, ask your doc if the symptoms get too uncomfortable.

Thanks for the help. I guess I just thought those side effects would come on soon after starting Mepron. I guess even on low dose and taking it for a couple of months without a problem - the side effects can come on later.
so I didn't take it yesterday, and will call Dr. tomorrow.
