ummm yes--- it is a general rule with Lyme that you cannot drink any alcohol. NONE.
If you are ill, and taking antibiotics, you should activley be trying to detox and tailor your life to maximizing your recover. Drinking alcohol will do the following: lower your immune system, provide sugar to the Lyme bacteria, stop your detox process, lower antibitoics power, and the list goes on.

Yes, Dr. B's treatment guidelines specify no alcohol. Alcohol intolerance is typically on a list of Lyme symptoms.
BTW, it was a whole year after I was well before I could tolerate alcohol. Treatment is very hard on the liver and it needs time to heal.

I found I could get hung over on two beers, back before I knew what I had. Since then, of course, I've had virtually no alcohol.

smoking and drinking are terrible for Lyme. If you are a smoker, you must quit. Many of the better docs will not treat you if you smoke.
It is very common to get drunk on 1 beer, or feel hungover from it the next day, when you have Lyme.

Yes. All those other dietary restrictions combined(described by the yeast-free diet ) do not equal the importance of giving up alcohol.

Best to just stay away from it. Before I was dx, sometimes if I had a glass of wine it would flare everything up. Oddly though, unlike most posters, I would not get the easily drunk or hungover feeling. I will say since being on treatment, I did do a trip to Paris and really debated whether to have wine or not. I was on amoxicillin near the end of my treatment cycle and had a total of 3 glasses of red wine the whole trip. I sipped slowly with dinner. The first time I had it (my first glass of wine in probably a year!!!) I immediately got an ever so slight headache but that was the extent of it. I have to admit, it was nice to indulge again, but I haven't had anything since that trip. I also ate too many croissants and wore myself out by walking miles every day but had no ill effects and no regrets.
