My main symptom right now is extreme fatigue. My LLMD says it's cuz of my low cortisol level. It's a 5,should be 15-20.He put me on Cortef(17.5mg daily)but I think I'm allergic to it.Are there any other options for raising cortisol levels?I'm feelin so discouraged right now [Frown]

Licorice prevents the breakdown of cortisol, I believe. You would need licorice powder. No good if you are hypertensive. I'm also not sure whether, over time, it lowers adrenal output of cortisol via negative feedback.

Alternatively, some people report success with Isocort. And there are the adrenal cortex extracts and adrenal support formulas, tho

You could discuss these options with your doctor.

Ashwagandha, Eleutherococcus senticosus, Rhodiola are other adrenal support herbs detailed here:

I think pregnenelone with DHEA helps (at least it helps me some). There is some info about this online. I take a very small amount of each in a combined supplement. (1omg dhea, 5 mg preg)

I take 5 mg cortef 4x per day and sometimes have

to stress dose if I (unfortunately) happen to catch the flu or some other illness.

my adrenals were so taxed from the infections and ABX the naturals didn't help alone.

I also don't have a thyroid so that contributed as well.

Sometimes people need to ramp up the physiological dose slowly

See:

Also another great site is:

An excellent plant-based adrenal support supplment is Adapt by InterPlexus and also Seriphos (by the same company.

Hi correction, I take 15 mg pregnenelone and 10 mg dhea.
I had problems with Cortef. I do find with the preg/dhea. I take natural thyroid too.
