Hi, I read elsewhere that doxy is known for staining the areas between teeth. I just had a cleaning and yes, it did come off and my teeth are pretty again.
My question is whether there is anything I can do to prevent the staining in the first place, other than normal brushing and flossing? I've read about oil pulling and thought I'd try that although I don't know that it will help prevent staining from abx. I wish I could afford cleanings more often but that's a big fat no. Anyway, any ideas would be great!

In all my years around lyme, I have never heard of any preventative. As far as I know, you just have to endure it. I hated it too.

I've had a little luck with peroxide diluted in a some water. I brush my tongue and teeth, I think its helping

I only get the staining when I haven't been good about taking my probiotics(bad me!), so I always thought it was a unbalanced gut bacteria = unbalanced mouth bacteria issue.
Could be wrong, but it seems to be my experience.
I've never mentioned anything to my dentist about lyme/Abx tx, so I laugh a little inside when they make their guesses as to why my teeth are stained.
They don't need to know, and they always get them clean!
When it gets really bad between dental cleanings, I'll brush with strictly baking soda 2-3 times and most of it comes off. Hard to get deep between the teeth, though.

Yes,brushing with baking soda is a good method http://www.wikihow.com/Whiten-Teeth-With-Baking-Soda Not sure about brushing for 2 mins though,it's rather rough on your gums. Give it a try though, a dentist recommended it to me

I have been brushing with baking soda my entire adult life. So, I was still doing it when I got lyme and got lyme treatment.
I still got the staining on my teeth.
Maybe I would have had more had it not been for the baking soda. But, just to say that baking soda and peroxide did not do the trick for me. My teeth looked yucky on certain antibiotics.
I just had to wait for the twice per year cleaning to get it off.

i started the oil pulling with coconut oil. it seems to have really brightened my teeth. don't know why but they definitely are whiter.

Thanks for the responses (and sorry for my own delay--bad week)! It sounds like baking soda or diluted peroxide and possibly the oil might help. I definitely am on top of probiotics. I will keep the suggestions in mind and cross my fingers!
