My husband went to a new Primary Care Doctor. He did a Lyme ABY Cascade test. His results were negative. His test result was .15 and you have to be over .75 for a positive result.

What is a Lyme ABY Cascade test? We are familiar with the Elisa and Western Blot tests, but not this one.

(He has a LLMD.)

Google search: Borrelia "ABY Cascade test"

I tried various cross searches from the terms and there were no results.

Get a copy of the test mailed to you.

My guess is that "ABY" stands for antibody - and with the limited range it seems very much like an ELISA with a ridiculous "scoring" code.

If your husband has a LLMD,I assume he's been diagnosed with lyme. So, I wonder why a new PCP would even be testing for lyme.

Thanks Keebler! I did google it and didn't find anything.

My husband went to this doctor because our LLMD wants him to start bicillin injections for his chronic strep. Our current PCP won't allow it to be done in the clinic.

My husband was looking for a more Lyme friendly PCP. He was hoping this new doctor would be.

The new doctor did several others looking for inflammatory issues. My husband didn't know he was doing a Lyme test.

He will probably end up doing them at home or have my sister (an RN) do them.

I was pretty sure you had Googled for it but I just wanted to remark that I could find nothing, for any of the ways I moved around the terms.

Well, that was mighty tricky of that doctor doing a lyme test without even discussing the test options.

Now, it's in his file "negative" and no other test will trump that, in THAT doctor's eyes, or most others.

It's so rough not being able to find even a lyme friendly PCP. We're all so much on our own. I do hope he can find other ways to get the shot but his insurance may not pay even just for the med now.

I bet he did it because he didn't believe he *really* has Lyme. My old PCP ran a second Lyme test and when it came back the same as the first one (bands 23 and 41+), he STILL didn't believe I had Lyme and said they were false positives!

It IS hard to find a Lyme friendly PCP. I did manage to find one but she's 45 min away and doesn't take any insurance so it's hardly ideal. She calls herself an "integrative medicine" doctor.
