I've had bad diarrhea the last couple days. Is this just from upping doxy and adding another med? Should I take more probiotics? It is not fun. I haven't eaten anything out of the norm either.

<<<<< Larae30 >>>>>,
Not sure what is causing your Diarrhea, but sorry you are going thru this.
For me every time I add a med 'or a supplement, go off of one etc. I have Diarrhea , some of us herx in this manner I think...
Hopefully, someone will be along in a bit who can give you some ideas as to probiotics, and what to eat or not eat and so on.
Try to stay hydrated, and rest ...
Jus' Silverwolfi here.

Be sure to take doxy on a full stomach. Don't know what the other med is.
Make sure it's a good probiotic. Add Florastor to the mix. This is something you can take at the same time as antibiotics so it's easier to remember.
Maybe some plain kefir would help. Seems to be the most fast acting of everything I've ever tried.
yes, drink water. Hope you feel better.

Thanks for your responses. I upped doxy last week and started 500mg zith. It's hard to eat on a full stomach because I take them in the am and pm and am not hungry in the am, so I try to at least do a hard boiled egg.
I have been taking a probiotic that is kept refrigerated, it is Multidophilus Plus 4 billion. Should I be taking more than 1 a day?
I also drink kefir/kombucha drinks on and off throughout the day.
Maybe it is a herx or it's just my stomach reacting to upped doxy and a new med. One time it was the kind where I get goosebumps and chills (sorry if tmi).

I have this same issue. It is everchanging however, dependent on the abx. It is common with antibiotics and many supplements (magnesium).
I take digestive enzymes (ZenPep) and 100 billion of Probiotics daily. Sometimes more dependent on what I have in the fridge.

Wow, you take 100 billion in probiotics? Maybe I should be upping mine?

I have this problem with the zithro...I need to start out with a much smaller dose and slowly work up. Doxy can also cause diahrea. Something that has helped me is using metamucil 2-3 times a day. I use just a small amount of water, like a shot glass full and 2 tablespoons of metamucil. It becomes a bit thick and I drink it. It gellifies in the body and helps bind the diahrea.

Charcoal or fiber or other binders probably would help.

I agree on Razzle's suggestion about charcoal, using that and chlorella wil lhelp bind up the toxins that are causing your intestines to be inflamed. I woudl also recommend you make your own kefir. I started that 6 months ago when i had my third c diff. and it ha helped me enormpusly...homemade kefir has loads more probiotics than store bought and no additives. Also be careful of kombucha because it has some carbonation and minor amounts of alcohol which can be very tough on theintestines when inflammed. Lastly consider using florastor (s. boulardi) as well as the lactobacillus probiotics. Add oatmeal and bananas and rice to your diet to see if they help. And tumeric is a natural anti-inflammatory-you can take it as a pill or make a tea from it. Good luck

I also herx and have diarea.Zithr is hitting bart .Even biaxin does the same thing. It lasted 4 months and finally now that my rash on my legs is leaving so the diarea.
I knew I had activated bartonella and I knew it was killing big time .I take the probiotics before bed . My liver has been releifed since than.I took them on empty stomak but after the enzymes and the reaction HERX was stronger after the enzymes than without them .
Enzymes broke the biofilm and than Biaxin or azithro did the killing of bart and other coinfections.
