I have to sit down and do some paperwork but for the life of me it's not only that I can't concentrate, I feel as though my brain is cotton candy. Dizzy as heck too.

What causes this? Inflammation? the bugs? Which bugs? Can anyone shed any light on this? It's pretty distressing especially when others think you 'look fine'..I used to be an avid reader and film watcher. Just thinking of all that makes me cringe.

It is babesia. You have to treat it with anti malarial drugs. It does not get better with borellia treatment which does not affect it.

Other babesia symptoms you may have experienced: extreme fatigue, lack of stamina, dizziness, air hunger/ trouble breathing, muscle pain/cramps in back, buttocks and thighs, headaches, hot flashes and sweating.

I felt like my IQ had plunged 50 points. I could not concentrate or follow a train of thought - even my own thoughts would dissolve and I would wonder where I was going and what I was doing.

I also felt spaced out as though I was on a powerful sedative. I did not feel connected to things like "walking off a mountain top into the clouds".

I did not realize I had it for three years because symptoms overlap so much and I did not have sweating. Babesia duncani does not cause much sweating.

responded to your pm opus - thx

Yes, nerferdun, I have every symptom you list. to a tee! I'm about to say something and my train of thought is completely gone!

I don't have much sweating either, only when it's really hot-I had no idea that Babesia duncani didn't cause that much sweating.

thank you, I don't feel as crazy anymore. It's impossible to live this way! HOpe you are better.

Yes it is babesia and I am afraid I have Duncani as well and it makes sense that I could not get better for that long. You feel like floating and 1/2 of the upper part of the brain is either under pressure or floating and you can not concentrate on anything at all and severe confusion including with ear cloged feeling. That is Duncani.
Duncani is the worst of all.

Oh, Horsefly, you are soooo not crazy. Welcome to the club.

I've become such a space case, I had to warn my family members at the holidays, lest I show up at their house with a jello salad and my cat gift-wrapped. ("Mommy, why is she saying the pledge of allegiance during grace?")

jimmy1, that is hilarious! I truly get it though.

horsefly, I am a lot better but there are so many ups and downs with the treatment of this infection. I have been at it for over a year. Be careful that when you start to feel better you do not back off, or you will be right back in the pits again very quickly.

I did Mepron with zithromax - the normal amount although with duncani they now suggest doubling the mepron. Some doctors also throw in Bactrim DS but that was too much for me.

Five months into treatment, I switched to a high dose malarone/ zithro with rounds of coartem every 3-4 weeks. That got me over the hill.

Crytolepis is supposed to be very helpful to boost the effect of the drugs. Also artemisinin or artesunate.

Best wishes.

Glad to see this post, the spaciness is very difficult to deal with. It is like you are in a cloud. I haven;t found anything that really helps with it, but I try to avoid extra simuli like the outdoors and malls on the bad spcey days...it is like a lot going on makes it worse.

I am just starting babesia treatment so I pray that the head pressure, spaciness, and facial flushing do go away. The pressure seems to be in my whole head, and it used to be in my neck too.
