Heavy Metals are thins such as Mercury, Lead, Arsenic and etc.

Different ways of getting tested. YOu can do a blood test, hair test or a urine challenge test.

I personally did a challenge test with DMSA and had high levels of Mercury and Lead.

Do a quick search here and you should find more info.

Good Luck

Dian,

There are a lot of strong opinions here. I did the hair test and came back with no real issues. Then I read Cutler's book and he said that there is a special way to read the hair test. There is a yahoo group that has a lot of Cutler info and can help with the test.

Some doctors will do the test but that is often for acute exposure not chronic. Chronic is the type most of use are dealing with. I was convinced I had mercury toxicity because of my symptoms and started the Cutler protocol.
After a couple of weeks I could not stay with it and went to a Dr K trained DO that gave me a DMPS challenge test. I asked her about the concern for the DMPS infusion and in all her patients she had not had a negative reaction that would cause her or a patient concern.

I did the DMPS challenge test and found I was 700% over the maximum. I started monthly infusions and also got my amalgams replaced (16 fillings and 2 crowns). I have had 17 DMPS infusions over 3 years. I currently am less than 40% of the original amount and will start EDTA chelation next month to also get the lead out. Lead was not an issue until I got more than 1/2 of the mercury out.

There are also ways to use Chorella and other supplements but I thought it would take to long to see results and working full time I had to get rid of numerous symptoms.

All the Best, MattH
