Out of all the different antibotics I have been on, and there have been many, I've only herxed once. That was when I was treating myself with 600mg doxy for three days, stopped for three days, because I couldn't take stomach pain, and started again on the fourth day with 100mg doxy and 250mg zithromiacin and was so unbelievably sick for about 12-14 hours. I'm assuming this was a herx. I've never had one since, no matter what I've been on.
Anyone gotten better without herxing?

I would say yes, you can get better without herxing.
Everyone is different - I truly believe that some people herx and dont even know it. I think its because most of us are in so much pain (off & on) we cant tell if its a herx or just a bad day.

good point, steve. i never had a herx to my knowledge, except i did get migraines on certain abx. i don't think it's universal, and i know it doesn't mean you won't get well.

Sure you can.... BUT.. are you on high enough doses to even be herxing?

I was on very high doses for 3+ years of different oral combo's...5 years later and I am "almost" 100%.
I did not herx or if I did, I never knew it. I think some are able to get rid of the toxins easier than others, for whatever reason.

I just started 1000mg ceftin twice a day and 400 mg doxy twice a day. Hoping to see some results in the near future. Been on so many that haven't done anything.

doglover you're taking 400 mg doxy TWICE a day? whew, that's a big dose.

Maybe you are not treating the dominate infection.
If abx is working you will either herx OR you will gradually improve and feel better and better.
If you just stay the same for a long period of time, something is not working. You might need to address another infections like bart or babesia.

i hit a plateau until i started treating bartonella with rifampin and really turned a corner going after parasites.

Hi Nefferdun:
I've been on so many antibiotics, most which have not worked. Mepron, levaquin, doxy, azithromycin, flagyl, rifampin, invanz, doxy, bactrum biaxin.
The only combo I did well on was biaxin and bactrum. I improved dramtically for a few months, then the improvements stopped and we've been trying different treatments since then. Just started ceftin and doxy last week. Not much difference so far. Getting discouraged that I'm not doing much better. I've been on antibiotics for 6 years.
