I have peripheral neuropathy from the lyme. Along with the numbness and burning in my extremities I get muscle cramps in my calves.

I am currently taking L-Carnitine and Co-Q10. They have made a difference in the cramping. But I keep hearing recommendations of adding Magnesium.

What dose should I take and is it ok to take? I saw something about Magnesium and biofilms that says I shouldn't take it.

I'm taking it no matter what. It helps my heart, muscles, and digestive system.

KAL mag glycinate is a good one

Don't take the mg at the same time as your antibiotics.

You can take magnesium to bowel tolerance, ie, till you get loose stools. If you get diarrhea, back off on your dose just a little.

Just wanted to be sure everyone knows the importance of

magnesium in divided doses, always. With a full glass of water.

2 - 3 x day, never all at once as that strains kidneys and washes out most. It can't be absorbed all at once, so needs repeats.

Up to 2,000 a day is suggested for those with seizures (as long as kidneys are in good shape).

Most of us do best at about 1,000 a day - but some at less. Depends upon your bowel tolerance but also how well the symptoms are managed.

L-TAURINE

is excellent to pair with magnesium (and then, too, the magnesium might not be as high to achieve good results).

Be sure to balance with calcium and other minerals, too.

There was a recent thread about this but I can't find that link now. Here are a few others from my file notes:
