So, I am thinking about trying mangosteen. I just saw its rather expensive and I am running low on cash between my LLMD and drugs and supplements.

Do you honestly think Mangosteen juice is worth it?

What benefits have you seen from it?

Good question, I have wondered the same thing. It is quite expensive!

It can be very good. However, I don't buy any liquid in plastic and it's hard to find in glass.

You might also want to explore this antioxidant:

Also remember FOOD. Food is our best source of great antioxidants. LOTS of colorful veggies and low sugar fruits like berries.

GOJI BERRIES, just a handful or two a day, are fabulous. It's also called Lycium Fruit.

While these are technically berries, they are not sweet and are safe to consume on an anti-candida diet. They go very well in chicken soup.

I've not used this brand but it's the first glass bottled mangosteen that a search brought up.

Has anyone else used Earth's Bounty - or have suggestions for other brands in dark glass bottles?

This one is reconstituted and I'm not sure that's a good thing.

Lymetoo, do you find the mangosteen juice helpful for just eye symptoms? Does it help with any other symptoms?

Posted by annxyzz (Member # 20404) on :

If you search mangosteen, you will find quite a few commending a less expensive brand I believe called "ultra " .

That looks gross!! You want one that is red in color... or maroon. This one is brown. For sure, do not buy Dynamic Health's. I've seen pics of their warehouse. UGH.

I buy mine from Xango. You have to buy it from a distributor or sign up to be a retail customer thru the company.

ok good thing I asked

NingXia Red is also a good alternative.

Clove bud oil has the highest antioxidant ORAC scale rating of any substance known (ORAC rating is over 1 million).

Mangosteen juice is an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice. It scarfs up free radicals created by all the inflammation.

We're all different when it comes to how we respond to treatment.

For me, all Lyme eye symptoms cleared up within 24 hours, with some reducing within the first hour!

It also caused my sinuses to run for two days, my intestines to empty for three days, and my gums stopped bleeding in four days.

I still drink 1/2 ounce in the am and pm. It keeps my eyes normal and my intestines regular.

I do best with Ultra and Mango-Xan brands. The Ultra brand is sold cheapest through Vitacost. It also has 70 minerals added to it and I notice that it hardens my nails. I get the Mango-xan at my local healthfood store.

Xango gives me a headache. It's possible our ability to detox affects our response, and my detox capability is not very good, genetically.

So my opinion is, try any form of it and see how you respond. Also drink water with it since it can be powerful.

I bought a case of xango and it did absolutely nothing for me. Check in history as this subject is brought up all the time.

how much of this should you drink everyday, is an ounce enough?

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

I think we're all different when it comes to what we do - I drink 1/2 ounce in the am and pm. I'd say the main thing is to pay attention to what your body can handle.

Robin,

What were your eye symptoms?

Posted by 17hens (Member # 23747) on :

Robin's eyes were spinning around trying to spot worms. After her mangosteen juice every morning they stop spinning.

(Sorry but if you made your little birdie stop pecking every once in a while, I wouldn't be tempted to make cracks like this!)

Yes i tried xango. I dont recall what my crp was at the time, but it went up.

Its still really high so maybe its unrelated

Depends upon which one you buy. I use 3 oz a day split into two doses.

Good one, hens!! [lol]

Hey - my bird definitely has OCD - its name is OCcupieD. I don't know how to stop it from pecking, if anyone would like to enlighten me...besides, it's doing a better job than all your hens of gettin' all those ticks!

Ok, my eye symptoms were - nice to say "were" - floaters, light sensitivity, eye muscle pain, and lastly, blurred vision, and it was that last one that got me to the eye doctor,

who couldn't find anything wrong with my eyes even though he had to anesthetize my eyes for me to be able to look at light.

The following day, my chiropractor suggested I try drinking mangosteen juice. Within one hour, my two latest symptoms were on the decline, and 24 hours later, my two earliest symptoms had just about disappeared.

One thing about Lyme - when we hit jackpot with a treatment, we know what HAPPY means!

I used the Xango brand..did nothing for me, but empty my pocketbook a little more [Frown]

The main thing mangosteen does is remove inflammation. It is NOT a cure for Lyme. I think too many expect too much. I've taken it for 7 yrs and am not stopping anytime soon. When I run out I am not a happy camper. Taking it for one or two months is not a good trial run.

--but I digress-- I'm not here to convince anyone .. only to defend something that has been great for me and others.

Aw, Robin, I don't REALLY mind your little pecking birdie. I just wanted a reason to tease. [kiss]

What's the sugar content (does it give you yeast)?

Posted by Robin123 (Member # 9197) on :

The Mango-Xan has a low sugar content.
I think the benefits of juice far outweigh concerns about sugar content, for me -

it's your "peck" - sez birdie

I hope this works. My eyes are so dry and blurry and hurt..sigh..

NO offense to Lymetoo, but I tried mangosteen of many different brands and none helped. Of course, everyone is different, and it may help in a stage of healing that I was not in when I tried it.

Whole Foods sells a brand called Lakewood Organic in a glass jar. Very pricey! I have been taking about 4 oz. daily.

I am feeling slightly better but also have been adding some other supplements so it is hard to tell.

It tastes nice and I may try adding a little bit to my plain kefir to flavor. A double whammy...
