Derk, read this:

This will help you understand more about treatment. Drug options are Rifampin, Cipro, Levaquin, and a few others. Many other options exist too based on what I've read. However, I don't hear of many who kill it though. [Frown]

If you find the answer to this question, I'll pay $10,000.00.

I think it is Babesia or a similar pathogen.

i think most of us have depersonalization here, and we all have so many different infections, its hard to know which one [Frown]

Bartonella is generally the infection blamed for depersonalization but babesia can cause mental/emotional problems that you might confuse with depersonalization.

For me, bart depersonalization was feeling so detached from myself and others that It was almost unreal, like living in a dream. I also felt apathetic and unmotivated; nothing mattered.

Babesia caused depression and inability to think so I also felt disconnected. It was like my spirit was sucked out of me.

Both are horrible but get better with treatment. You need to examine the other prominent symptoms to know which infection is causing it.

With babesia you are more likely to feel depressed but with bartonella you feel irritated even with outbursts of rage. Foot or shin pain indicates bart. Air hunger and dizziness can accompany babesia.

My son, who has a wicked Bart infections, gets depersonalization at times really bad. It has gotten better with minocycline and rifampin. Best wishes to you for your recovery.

I chose bart since I've never had it and I've never had depersonalization.

I've lived in it for two years. Sometimes it's unbearable cause you OCD yourself into the panic attacks of a lifetime. I recently started. Med for OCD. I have bart and treatment is hard with emotions, numbness. Do what you have to, but depersonalization is te worst symptom when you fel like you llost yourself and loved ones and there right there. You'll be better. It's tough, one day at a time. You'll be ok.
