Does anyone know of a good non-toxic or natural tick repellant that can safely be applied to the skin?

The ticks will soon be out in droves and I love nature. I hate DEET!

Also don't want to smell too fruity in case of "bears".

Thanks

I just purchased some Now 100% Pure lavender essential oil for my dog. Can also be used for us.

Dreading tick season again ...

Some sites say to dilute it, others say no, guess need to do some research before using as repellant. Lots of good info on it.

I did add 3 drops to beagle's bath water and she's now sleeping like a baby!

Yes, I've heard that lavender is good. Also heard the mountain mint works well.

I think that you are supposed to dilute essential oils. Glad your dog slept so well.

I would like to find a natural product specifically designed to repel insects, especially ticks, without having a strong scent.

I know I'm asking a lot. Even Deet has a strong scent.

Thanks again. I will remember the Lavender Oil.

I have some rose geranium oil. I haven't used it yet though. Google it. They say that it is a great tick repellent.
I imagine you will have to dilute, maybe mix it with grape seed oil?

Dilute essential oils - if putting on skin, hair, fur (of animal) . . . IF on a tissue or kerchief tied on your belt loop, etc. that will not touch skin, you may not have to dilute but a carrier oil like almond oil may help it not evaporate so fast.

RC1's idea for a carrier, complement oil is good.

Be sure to keep out of eyes.

Geranium oil or clove oil work great.

Mercola also has one that has lemongrass and cinnamon oil -
