I just got the official test results and diagnosis this week. I knew I had Lyme years ago, though it was never officially diagnosed and only treated with homeopathics.

Anyway, I wanted to thank you all -- this site is the reason I got the diagnosis. I thought that my body was just wrecked from 3 pregnancies/childbirths, but when I posted on here a few months ago about my mother, actually, some posters suggested that perhaps I myself had Lyme and Bart. Sure enough! That's why my feet have been hurting so much!!! I got a referral to a LL doc over at Seeking a Doctor, and I had my 2nd appt this week.

I am really nervous about starting the protocols. I did finally break down and start the antibiotics and herbs TODAY as well as the low carb diet.

I feel like I'm embarking on a journey of never-ending antibiotics, and I can't turn back. I'm scared of yeast, auto-immune and drug side effects.

But, I'm also a little excited about the idea of killing bugs that have made me their home for decades. What a concept. I've been in relapse for 9 years. Can I really get well??

Yes you can get well.

Let me suggest reading everything you can get your hands on by Dr. K (GiGi has posted a TON of info over the years). His approach is very comprehensive, integrative (and not mainstream), but I think he is the best we've got in terms of fighting this monster. I wish I found him years ago. I am finally getting better.

Conventional approaches work for some, but not most.... because as soon as they get off the meds, they crash. I think it's most important to get to the underlying issues that have allowed these infections to get out of control in the first place (this is Dr. K's approach). You need to be with a good, open-minded, cooperative doc. This is KEY to it all. (And a lot of them hold Dr. K in high regard and are willing to watch over you if you try his protocols.)

Also, check out the recent MTHFR threads. I think this is HUGE HUGE HUGE.

Best to you,
Tammy

That is wonderful to have a diagnosis. Even though it is a long
journey, none of us look back. We get better and so will you.

Remember that when you first start treatment you always get worse symptoms - just the die off - totally normal. When you treat bartonella (or babesia) the herxing can be very emotional too. Bart treatment was like breaking a damn. I felt so much better afterwards.
