I saw in the book "Healing Lyme" that Astragalus is contraindicated in chronic Lyme. I guess we misread this at first, bc hubby was using it for about a month bc he knew it was supposed to be good for the immune system (at least for most people).

Has anyone had experience with using Astragalus? Did it cause a worsening of your symptoms? Or has it helped anyone?

It just was FAR too stimulating for me - before I knew why. No damage but just really unpleasant.

Together with other herbs in a formula, though, I do fine. All about balance.

Sometimes the immune system is already overworking to get well. Some herbs can "boost" the immune system & this isn't really what you want for some conditions.

It's probably better to find something that modulates the immune system rather than boost it.

It's kind of complicated but this article explains it a bit -

This article explains it a bit, too-
