The other day I posted about a possible herx from a z-pack. But I was thinking and made the connection between a dentist appointment that I had last Tuesday, when I had 3 fillings done. They were not amalgams, but I don't know much about composites so maybe those could be just as bad???
Also, the fillings I had were all in the very front on the top, behind and near my two front teeth. I have had so many fillings over the years, that I don't usually think much of it. But these particular fillings were pretty horrible.
The novacaine shots were excruciating. I can usually handle pain from those without flinching. But it was bad. Plus it just felt so uncomfortable the entire time that I was in the chair. The drilling behind my front teeth was not painful, but sooooo uncomfortable...I remember hoping I wouldn't have a panic attack at one point (I haven't had a panic attack in YEARS).
So looking back to the next few days, I thought I might be herxing from the zithromax that I had just started for a sinus infection, except it felt so DIFFERENT...I tried to explain how I felt to my friend, and it was hard to do...
I was soooooo cranky, on edge, overly sensitive to sounds , a feeling like a buzzing in my head (sort of). I wish I could explain it better, but as someone who is VERY familiar with irritability, this was worse. It was like nothing I ever felt before (and I have been through herxes and all kinds of abx). It was like all of my senses were in a heightened state...I would cringe when anyone would even talk to me because it literally hurt.
It is much better now, but once I remembered the fillings, I felt like that was the cause of this. If I am right, was it the actual process or the material that they used that would cause such a reaction?
I cancelled my next appointment because I don't want to experience this again, but I do need one or two more cavities filled, so I don't know what to do.

It's so difficult to figure this all out. But I do know that Lyme can wreak havic in the mouth and teeth.
For me, any type of stress on the body, however minor, can cause severe flares.

Ive had flare ups after fillings too! i think its from the anesthesia and the bacteria in the tooth moving around.
Next time i'm going to really ramp up on VIt C, GSE, things like that. you're not crazy!

I wonder if nitrous oxide (laughing gas) might be an option for you. It has helped me so much in the recent past. It gets rid of my dental anxiety and makes the procedure seem less painful and quicker.
But I recently read that if you have that gene in which your body has difficulty getting rid of neuro-toxins, laughing gas is contra-indicated.
