Okay guys, I am 18 years old and at my whits end with everything, and becoming very depressed.

First off, my mother was diagnosed with Lyme about 10 years ago and was treated successfully.

Recently (about 3 months ago) I had been having prostate problems and pelvic pain (only an 18 year old male), also stomach pains. I went to my doctor and he ran a bunch of tests and said I have mono.

Now I am starting to get joint pain in my knees, always feeling tired all the time, sharp pain all over body, in chest and underarms especially. sometimes I feel a bit of a rapid or faster heartbeat.

I have extreme anxiety (havent alwyas), I also have problems getting to sleep, a white coat on tongue?, bad constipation, sometimes my eyes feel really dry or bug me, sometimes i see floaters, and sometimes I get tingling/numbness in my arms and legs. Brain fog, I just feel so bad all around. also I get very light headed at time. And have swollen lymph Nodes in neck and groin for months.

I also have a random sharp pain in my left shoulder blade that will come for about a day or so and then pass.
A few weeks ago i felt as if all of my skin had a sunburn on it, when my clothes rubbed on legs, arms, and stomach/chest, it felt like a sunburn would, but there was no Redness/rash?

I also have long hair.. And I notice that whenever I wash it.. More and more seems to fall out [Frown] . My shower drain gets completely clogged once a week now.

Also my whole life I've walked on my toes.. I had to have surgery on my Achilles tendons when I was 15 due to this. (read it could be related to Lyme).

Basically, my doctor just said I have mono and it will pass.. That was Months ago. I think it's something else.. Possibly Lyme??

Please someone help. Let me know what you think. I am becoming very depressed and sad. I am only 18 and feel like my quality of life has all the sudden gone.

Sounds EXACTLY like Lyme to me! Now you could have "mono" also.. that happens a lot.

You are in a bad place to get help with a Lyme specialist. Do you have access to the Dr who treated your mother?

I'm moving this to Medical Questions where you will get more help.

INFO!

It really, really sounds like the symptoms of lyme disease to me. You are fortunate that your mom had lyme, so she knows all about it and how it can affect a person.

Talk to her about getting a great lyme doctor and get your life back!

Look at the symptom list on pages 9-10 of this document and you will see how many you have:

http://www.ilads.org/lyme_disease/B_guidelines_12_17_08.pdf

Your mom will know how to get you tested for lyme. But, regardless of the test results, you need to see a lyme doctor because many people with lyme get negative results.

At the top of page 7 of the document it says that no test is reliable to make the diagnosis, so you really need a doc who is an expert in lyme to tell you you have it.

Don't worry. All of these symptoms will go away with good treatment. I had plenty of the ones you name and everything went away. I had the sunburned skin sensation every night in bed where ever the bed touched me. I also had dry eye, dry mouth, anxiety attacks, and on and on.

Everything reversed when I got to a good lyme doctor. So, don't get depressed. You were really smart to think of lyme. Since you haven't had the symptoms very long, you should do really well if you get a good doc.

Plan to spend an hour or two every day, reading info here.
There are several "sticky" posts at the top of the Medical Forum.
"Quick Links to Popular Topics" has alot of valuable information.

Try to read "Cure Unknown" by Pamela Weintraub.
This will fill you in on some of the problems you'll be facing as you treat this disease.

Hi - I hope people are sending you doctor referrals. You will feel better when you start to treat.

You symptoms sound like Lyme and the swollen lymph nodes could be due to bartonella - you can test for Lyme and co-infections.

IGeneX is a good lab for testing - www.IGeneX.com - they can send you a free testkit. If you're low income, you can qualify for a discount through www.lymetap.com.

But testing doesn't always come back positive even though we may have these infections, so Lyme doctors also treat clinically, by history and symptoms.

Treatment includes killing/deterring the organisms, detoxing and fortifying the body. You can study here about what we all do. You can click on the Search function at the top of the page and type in any word or phrase, and that will bring up archived threads on the topic.

We all deal with everyone of the symptoms you mentioned and either discover treatments that stop the symptoms or manage them better.

For example, you can type in Sleep Aids, Sleep Treatment, or similar phrases to see the discussions about what we all take to help us sleep.

I am able to stop eye symptoms and constipation by drinking mangosteen juice, an anti-inflammatory antioxidant juice which is in healthfood stores and also online. I drink 1/2 oz in the am and pm.

When you find the right antibiotics or other kinds of Lyme treatment, your symptoms will improve.

I currently am taking teasel root tincture and curcumin capsules to greatly reduce joint pain, and maybe it's helping muscle pain too.

Healing will be a journey and require some patience, but it is great to watch health return, and yours will too - hang in there and learn what to do -

I just found out my other had two miscarriages before having my sister and I. Wonder If Lyme could have possibly played a part, or if I really could have possibly been born with it. My mother has no clue how long she had it before she was treated..

Posted by Lymetoo (Member # 743) on :

Yes, to both questions. Did you get a list of names for Utah?

Pain in urethra and pain when peeing is a common lyme symptom for both men AND women

My heart goes out to you . I know how horrible it is in the beginning, not knowing whats going on and feeling like your body is just falling apart. But there is help on the way. Its because of this forum that I am now being treated and getting better today!

good luck and god bless.

Foutzman,

Lyme can have a MAJOR parasitic component to it and treating for parasites/worms is very important.

Check the symptom list at Humaworm and also do a search on here for parasites. Also check out the salt/c protocol at lymestrategies.

Not discounting getting diagnosed by an LLMD, but you can be proactive yourself in getting rid of these infections.

Doing continuous antiparasitic herbs and salt/c after 4 yrs of abx saved my life. Empowering yourself can be very helpful.

Thank you guys so much! Doc ordered a Lyme titer test today. I have convinced my dad to let me see a specialist but he said only if our reg doc says nothing seems to be wrong with me.. just waiting for those tests. If i am positive for Lyme im going to tell him I want a diff doctor to treat me and go to the doc that helped my mom. If not im still going to go get tested by someone else.

Also, I will look into stuff about parasites.. and if anyone with male urinary/prostate/urethra symptoms could pm me? Its kinds freaking me out and I want to see If anyone else here has this, and has got over it with treatment, or what.

Thanks so much guys!
God is great, and i feel he will be good to me and that i am on the right path.
