does anyone do other injections like streptomycin or gentamycin? I'm allergic to penicillin so can't do bicillin, but I want to do one of these others.

Streptomycin and Gentamicin are Aminoglycoside antibiotics. They are very powerful but not typically used to treat Lyme. They might rarely be considered for use in treating coinfections. When used, they must be monitored carefully and frequently (labs every couple days) because these meds are known to have toxic side effects.
If you need an alternative to Bicillin LA, Rocephin can also be given IM.

My doc wants me to do daily injections of lincomycin, but I'm still studying up on it. I was actually going to ask same question.

it wouldn't be for the Lyme, it would be for mostly the brucella. I did IV rorocephin for 2 months and that's all I could afford.
I was reading that they are very toxic, I'm a little worried about that.
I'll have to look up the lincomycin.

Doxy and rifampin are cheap, I thought that they were generally the antibiotics of choice when treating chronic Brucella infections?
Instead of worrying, write down your thoughts. I'm sure your doctor will recommend a good treatment plan for you Posted by WhitneyS (Member # 25666) on :
Every Abx is toxic. You can do IM rocephin too-- i paid $5 co pay for 6 weeks worth.
