I have been treating lyme for about 6 months and my llmd just started me on 500mg Ceftin twice a day along with minoclycline 100mg twice a day.
I've been taking these meds for 5 days and feeling worse. I am dizzy 24/7 but since i started the abx I am extremely dizzy and very confused.
I haven't experienced confusion like this since I first got sick last spring. Has anyone had this with Ceftin? Or could this be a herx?

Minocycline can cause dizziness. I am not sure about Ceftin.
Sometimes starting with a small dose and working up over a few days to full dose will help your body adjust.
Maybe check in with your Dr. and see what they may suggest.
Sorry to hear of your discomfort. Dizziness and confusion are awful. Hope it passes quickly.
Ginger seem to help some of our daughter's dizziness.

sounds like the mino to me. I have a friend who was put on mino for something other than lyme, and she had really bad dizziness and had to stop taking it.

Thanks, I'll have to call my doctor in the morning. I guess I assumed it was the Ceftin because of the high dose.
I thought maybe herx because they say all your symptoms get worse and I've been dizzy for almost a year.
I'll definitely get some ginger, thanks!

I've been on Ceftin for two weeks. I have moments of scary confusion.
It starts about 1.5 hours after I take the Ceftin. I use Burbur, and it helps some.
For me the worst of the confusion and resulting anxiety goes away in a couple of hours.
I've been assuming it is a herx. But I don't know for sure. I just started treating 4 weeks ago.

The dizziness is definitely minocycline. Usually, this passes within a week. If it's tolerable, stick with the minocycline as it is a great drug which has deep penetrating benefits.
You may want to titrate and start with only 100 mg. for the first week or two and then move up to to the full dose.
I was dizzy on 100 mg., but it abated within a week.

I was on 2000 mg/day Ceftin for 60 days. I herxed badly on about the 4th day. Never experienced dizziness. I did lose alot of hair. While on the Ceftin, after the herx was over, I felt better than I had in over a year! But everything came back two months after the abx.
