has anyone heard of or gone thru this. My immunologist suggested this procedure, but he's not lyme literate. Apparently, it cleanses the blood of toxins.

thanks, gejr1

It can all sound wonderful when explained by those who do this but it just does not pan out for those with lyme & co.

I would not recommend it, at all.

A friend of mine did this, many sessions over a year or so. She did the entire suggested plan, twice.

She felt some improvement but, ultimately, it did not solve any problems at all.

It cannot treat lyme and I have serious doubts that it can really adequately address any infection.

Those who say it can "cleanse the blood" are not at all lyme literate, IMO. They don't understand how the various forms of spirochetes work.

However, looking for some literature on this, I see that it would be use more for immune system support.

I could only find two links from a basic search of:

ultraviolet+blood+irradiation, borrelia

The ND below seems to be ILADS-aware and LL but I get nervous when I read: "Therapies to stimulate the immune system . . . "

Stimulating the immune system with lyme is very tricky. Still, I cant argue if they say theyve seen it help the immune system for those with lyme.

Excerpt:

. . . Therapies to stimulate the immune system, such as ultraviolet blood irradiation therapy, are vital as well given that the immune system needs to be operating at full capacity to speed recovery and prevent recurrence.

I have seen patients who have been on long term antibiotics with some benefit, improve rapidly when we stimulate the immune system this way. . . .

Modulation of immunity to Borrelia burgdorferi by ultraviolet irradiation: Differential effect on Th1 and Th2 immune response

Excerpt:

. . . Our results support the hypothesis that in vivo, UV irradiation down-regulates Th1 immune responses, while leaving Th2 responses intact, and suggest that IL-10 is an important mediator of this effect.

There are other ways to help "cleanse" the blood. The herbs Gotu Kola & Stinging Nettle can help, as can good liver support.

See the ND thread for adjunct methods but they are best with ILADS, LL doctors along with direct targeting of infection.

(What ILADS is) . . . WHY you need an ILADS-educated, Lyme Literate Doctor

===============================

http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php/topic/2/13964

How to find an ILADS-educated LL:

N.D. (Naturopathic Doctor);

L.Ac. (Acupuncturist);

D.Ay. (Doctor of Ayurvedic Medicine);

D.O.M. (Doctor of Oriental Medicine);

Integrative / Holistic M.D., etc.

Links to many articles and books by holistic-minded LL doctors of various degrees who all have this basic approach in common:

Understanding of the importance of addressing the infection(s) fully head-on with specific measures;

Knowing that support supplements are important, but NEVER enough alone. And knowing which supplements have direct impact, which are only support and which are both.

You can compare and contrast many approaches.

BASIC HERBAL EDUCATIONAL links, and

BODY WORK links with safety tailored to lyme patients,

RIFE links,

BIONIC 880 (& PE-1) links, and

LOW HEAT INFRARED SAUNA detail.

Keebler,

From what I have read by Dr William Campbell Douglas, "Into the Light" UV Blood treatment increases the blood's oxygen carrying capacity and it is the oxygen that kills infection. I am not sure how effective this is for Lyme, since a certain percent of Lyme is not in the blood stream but often hiding because of the ABX.

I had 7 treatments and though I felt mildly better the facility is 2 1/2 hours away and I work full time. So unless I go up there for a week of treatments, I felt it was too much time between treatments.

I am starting to get better on ABX and am thinking of adding PE1.

Not sure if the UV Blood docs have enough experience with Lyme to know how many treatments and in what type of time frame to make it successful. Also what other types of protocols should be used in conjunction.

Is UV Blood one of the treatments done by Dr W in Germany, along with the detox and LED treatments?

All the Best, MattH

Manybites,

Thanks for the clarification. Where can I go to learn what the treatment cycle actually is?

Are you doing Bionic now and with what type of device?

All the Best, MattH
