My husband is going for his first dose of IV vitamin C. We are wondering what he should expect. We have heard of people not feeling good afterward on the same day but better on the 2nd day. Any comments?

make sure that he eats a sizable meal before the infusion. IV C can cause a hypoglycemic reaction in some people. Do you know what his dose will be? If infusion takes several hours, it is recommended to bring a snack along to keep blood sugars steady.

I don't have any experience with this yet but my Doctor has highly recommended this. He says a lot of his patients feel so much better afterward.

Hope this helps your husband, let us know how he does.

After my first two vitamin c IV's I felt rather herxy, which I wasn't expecting. Since then, I've felt very good after them and tend to have a few good days following it. I'm sure it all depends on you symptom severity.

I get really sleepy during it and try to use it as an hour to just relax. Something to do with the magnesieum.

I also get cold and generally bring a sweater or something with me.

He'll have to pee a lot, which is a good thing!

That's all I can remember being unique about it.

Good luck to him!

Just to clarify, the herxy feeling I referred to just lasted a few hours after the IV. Then it cleared up.

If you're seeking just to get vitamin C into the bloodstream and no other nutrients, then I.V.s are an unnecessarily costly route to take.

You can achieve the same results with liposomal vitamin C:

http://www.healthyitems.com/vitamin-C-p/610.htm

Actually the liposomal C is better because you can take it in smaller amounts frequently to maintain a particular level of it in the bloodstream.

With I.V.s, if the goal is get lets say 20 grams into your system for a period of three or four days, they'll load you up with some ungodly amount, like 120 grams, knowing that it will dissipate quickly and you'll be down to the 20 grams at the end of 4 days. High dosages like that can do vein damage over time.

With the liposomal, you take the 20 grams by mouth, just what you need, and repeat the dosage every day or twice a day and keep that blood level that you want without the extreme dosing.

At $46 bucks a bottle, liposomal is a lot more economical than an I.V. and best of all, you don't have to sit in some doctors office for 3 hours with a catheter sticking in your arm watching bubbles go up in a bottle.

I've used liposomal C with great results.

Also, does anyone have info or data that vitamin C helps Lyme? We've invested a lot into vit c and just wanted confirmation/information. Thanks.
