I took 200 mg DMSA 1/2 hour before meals for three days. The first two days I felt more energy and was very happy (for some reason maybe unrelated).

Yesterday morning I woke up very early at 4:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. By afternoon I was beginning to feel wired. I couldn't sleep. I was up and down all night, slept a few hours and then gave up.

Anyone get insomnia and excitability from DMSA? I read somewhere it can send your adrenals into overdrive. I also read if you have another mutation (CBS) the sulfur in DMSA is harmful to you and this can be over stimulating. Or is this just a sign of significant detoxing?

I do not know if I should do this again. I hope this goes away soon. I am so tired.

Hi Nefferdun,
I know you can be sensitive to the sulfur if you do not take Molydenum also. I guess you have to store this up to help. You may wish to read more on this from either Dr. K or Cutler.
Also, drinking electrolytes helps to keep everything moving well through your kidneys and out.
Enemas help also during this time.

Keeping everything moving is the key I believe. Too many toxins floating around and you will be wired.

Best Wishes Truesun

Thanks Truesun. I am taking lots of minerals with magnesium and molydenum so maybe that will help. If I ever do this again I will take them before (DUH).

I am trying to stay away from the sulfur foods. Maybe my green drink with chlorella will help get the rest of it out. I thought the DMSA would do a neat job of cleaning things out - not stir it up like this.

One should never do a metal detox without close supervision by someone who understands how it should be done.

DMSA can carry/ mobilize metals out of the central nervous system as well as taking it there. All depends on where the metals are and the timing of the detox. Please find someone to help you with this.

Take care.

Here is something that explains what happened:

" Common side effects on a first round of chelation are unusual fatigue, changes in mood such as fearfullness, over-sensitivity, anxiety, nervousness, brain fog, confusion, and either too sleepy or wicked insomnia. Any way you look at it, no matter what the side effects a person gets are, if there is a mercury coming out, there are side effects that are easily distinguished from anything else the person normally feels in day to day life."

This site says cilantro is a safer chelator to use if you still have amalgams because it does not draw it out of your amalgams.

"With either cilantro or DMSA, side effects will pretty much be gone in about 24 to 48 hours after the last dose of the trial or round."

I bought four bottles of DMSA but I believe I will stick with cilantro from now on, at least until I don't get such a horrible reaction.

"pack 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, blend into some water and swallow once a day for 3 days, or stop if bad side effects."

That is a lot of cilantro.

AAAAACCCCCKKKKK!

Bryan Rosner did this and regretted it. He thought he'd incurred permanent brain damage. It's in one of his books.

Maybe try a nice cilantro tincture so you can ramp up the dose?

Cilantro tincture (prepared in a certain way) is the only substance we know at this point that crosses the blood brain barrier. Most of our bbb's are damaged already. Cilantro will pick up whatever it can --- toxic metals ---- and take it into the brain or take it wherever an opening exists. Is that what you want?

Stay away from cilantro until you get the go- ahead for the first drop or two from a doctor who understands it. Notice I say a drop or two.

Cilantro tincture for the novice is a NO-NO!

If you read about Dr. K. talking about cilantro, remember he always refers to any med or remedy he recommends after it is being tested on the patient, before the patient even gets a smell of it.

Everyone of his protocols are energetically tested on the patient before. All protocols are based on prior ART testing. I test every remedy myself before I put it on my body or in my mouth,

Everybody can learn this - at least the basics of it.

Metal Detoxing should be outlawed unless a doctor who understands all the difficulties involved in it is testing and guiding the patient closely.

You do not want to move more toxic mercury or other metals into the brain and central nervous system than you already have. That is only one of the dangers and difficulty involved and therefore it is not a do-it-yourself job. Most brainfogs or are caused by toxic metals. Rosner first heard about toxic metals from me burning the wires to my house. He only listened to what he wanted to hear and he insulted Dr. K. on this open forum terribly. I have no respect for him.

I had a person call me a couple days ago - she had been told by some copycat to take 50 drops cilantro twice a day! She thought she literally was at the end of her life. She called me hoping I could help her.

DMSA is critical because it clears mostly via the kidneys. If the kidneys can't clear it - for whatever reason (toxic overload already) = you are in trouble. The kidney does not repair - a damaged nephron is a damaged nephron. One reason alone to stay clear or be extremely careful and only under guidance when doing DMSA.

Take care.

Damage done to the liver, i.e. toxic overload, vs. damage done, toxic overload to the kidneys:

with the liver you need to compare the size of a football field vs. the size of a pingpong table for the kidney. The liver will take a lot more insults -- the kidneys won't.

Dr. K. taught me that the first visit I saw him.
I have never forgotten it. And I look at all people who need dialysis to live with great compassion.

If you are in detox mode, your urine has to be stinky and slightly brown. If it is light in color, and doesn't smell, give your kidneys more support. They are not filtering properly.
