any suggestions? i m taking it since just 10 days and i am puking my whole soul out of my body and the nausea is unbearable :-( but i need to treat babs :-((( im so damn finished...my life is destroyed since this 4 year lasting illness :-((

Be sure to take it with food that is high in fat.
If that doesn't work, perhaps your doc would have a suggestion?
If Mepron doesn't work for you, there are other options such as Malarone and Coartem (Riamet)
Maybe someone will come along with a better suggestion.

I remember it went right through me as automatic diarrhea - just right through my system!
We were told to take it with fat, so we took it with a spoonful of peanut butter - I don't know if that helps to coat the stomach as well, taking with some fat: maybe with bread spread with butter?
Since no one has answered, and I don't know, I do hope you have called your doctor to ask about this? This is serious, being this ill & you have to worry about why this is happening and about dehydration & nourishment.
Also, if you are not keeping the medicine in you, it is not doing you any good, so that is another reason to talk to your doctor. I had to stop taking the Mepron for a while, & try again later. When I tried again later, I did not get the terrible diarrhea - it stayed in me okay! SO maybe I had to treat my other Lyme Disease symptoms first, not be so terribly ill first, and then was able to tolerate the Mepron?

My sickest son changed to coartem. My oldest to malarone. Mepron was not meant to be in our home.

Did anyone get well....From any of these .....I'm on 5 years sick , diagnosed Aug. 3rd LLMD treatment and I'm still laying here.
I try to get going and just can't,,,we're talking showers, walk outside, whatever,,,,,,
Been on Mepron . plus Abx at least 3 months....
ID doc did steroids Summer of 2010, So I know it's harder...but
I see so many people on here so long....
I can't get to Germany......880...Anytime I've gone off Abx before ,, Straight down tubes.
(That was before when I knew was sick and had to do whatever to stay on Zith or doxy or rifampin ,,,or two of any........)
One person said it takes a few month's then you start feeling it work...
Anybody on these three ,,Mepron...

When I took Mepron I had to make sure to keep food in my stomach. If my stomach got empty I would get nauseous, felt like my stomach was going to turn and eat me! I'm serious!!!
Try adding some snacks with complex carbs and proteins. I liked peanut butter on apples, peanut butter on ezekiel bread, peanut butter straight off the spoon...
Almond butter is good too
I also had to take DGL for awhile when on the Mepron. It helps to coat the esophagus and stomach. Prevents that gnawing in the stomach feeling and helps with the nausea too.
So try eating more often (snack) and make sure that you are taking the Mepron with a truly fatty meal. Try DGL if the diet changes don't help enough.
Hang in there, 3 months is just the beginning. You've been sick for 5yrs, it's going to take awhile for your body to fight the infections and heal.

i have a new thought, i stopped mepron but the nausea istn much better, only a little. i took mepron with ketek but my liver enzymes are doing super. but maybe the nausea is from ketek?

I've been on Mepron for over two years and really improved. I always took it with a whole meal and lots of fat. When I didn't eat enough, it made me nauseous.
For best penetration, Mepron must be taken with 23 grams of fat, which is a lot. The half-life of Mepron is 86 hour +/- 36 hours, so it's 3.5-5 days, so it stays in your system for days. It may still be the cause of your nausea.
Most people take Mepron with Zithromax, so if Ketek is the cause, maybe you can switch.

thx thats good information.
so i ll wait 4 or 5 days. today it is bit better but i still cannot eat much and i feel nauseous.
i took it with 2 toasts with lots of butter on them. do you think thats not enough?
how much is a mepron bottle in the usa? here in germany it is soooo expensive, cant even really afford it though -.-
normally abx dont do much harm to me, i tolerate them really well. but zith i cant tolerate also, getting enormous nausea.and btw they dont sell it as iv in germany so it is less effective burrascano says. i do tolerate clarithromycin very well. and septra also. for e.g.
as far as i know the alternatives for mepron are malarone lariam and clinda/quinine and coartem. which one would you suggest if i cant tolerate or afford mepron in future? do i have a chance to beat my babs?

Nausea and vomiting is a problem for me right now with Rifampin and Doxy.
Ginger root tea does take the edge off. I just cut 1 inch of ginger root into pieces and boil with 2 cups water, then strain. I sweeten with a little honey or stevia.

Hi there,
I find that a benzodiazepine, especially Xanax, works very well for eliminating the nausea. I got the prescription because I have a lifelong phobia of vomiting, so when I get nauseated, I tend to have a bad panic attack as well -- 1mg or so of Xanax takes care of that.

You're right; Malarone, Lariam, Coartem and Quinine/Clindamycin all work for babesia.
I tolerate IV Clindamycin well, but the Clinda/Quinine was the worst herx ever! Maybe you will do better with that combination.
Two pieces of toast with butter should be fine to take with the Mepron. Did you take the Mepron with the toast or are you stopping it until the nausea goes away?

they ll unfortunately not prescribe iv clinda here in germany. i know dr jemsek does it and it works well as he states. i just bought the ilads 2011 conference video of mr horowitz and found something very interesting, he says that clinda works also together with zith or biaxin. so you can abandon the quinine which has very bad side effects in higher doses. i think thats what i ll focus on next time! does anyone know if one can take clinda with larium? thats my plan. adding artemisiae 2 from zhang or coartem in rounds also.
i did take it right after eating the toasts. but atm im stopping it since 2 days to see where the nausea is coming from.
today i had an interesting discovery: the nausea was i would say like medium. but when i took ketek in the evening it didnt change. BUT when i ATE after taking ketek, the nausea was unbearable and i got heat flashes and horrible fatigue. that is exactly the same thing with zith for me, only biaxin has no side effect impacts on me.
i think i ll see how long i can last on ketek, bacause i think it has good impact on the borrelia. and then switch to clanda/biaxin etc.

I've taken Clinda with Lariam - both worked great for me.
You'll know right away if you can tolerate oral Clinda.
