I was able to get my 5yo an appointment with a LLMD in two months. I'm fairly certain he has Lyme. I would like to start with whatever I am able. His diet is all organic, low sugar, etc. he hasn't taken pills that aren't chewables, I'm not sure if he can swallow any but we are willing to try. I out epsom salt in his bath. If anyone has any advice on what to do while we are waiting for the appointment I'd be grateful.
Thanks!

How about seeing a Naturopath in the meantime?

You might consider cat's claw drops-starting only with one drop daily, and see how he responds to that...it can cause a herxeimer reaction, so go slowly...
Anything to build up his immune system in the meantime. A good probiotic, cut out sugar if you can, consider taking him off gluten and dairy as well (these are things that his LLMD will quite possibly suggest anyway). Good luck. CB

Thanks, I've got him on vitamin c and a probiotic. I'll definitely try some cats claw drops. I can be sure to do the epsom salt baths as a way to detox. Any other detox methods for children?
Gluten free is a good idea, I'll give that a try, sugar is already minimal as he is on a strict diet per our eating style, and he is almost no dairy too.
How about coconut oil? He is used to it because he oil swishes regularly. I might be able to get him to take some.
Anything else?

Since your child is only (5) years old, I would be very careful trying to treat him on your own. A lot of alternative medicines are very strong, and they do cause a Herxheimer reaction.
Taking alternative medicines along with some medications that are broken down by the liver can increase the effects and side effects of some medications.
I would talk to your healthcare provider before giving your child any alternative medicines.
Do as much research online as possible This site (lymenet.org) is a great resource for help with these diseases. Keep asking questions, there are many people here that can guide you in the right direction.
I wish you the best, and truly hope your child feels better!

Homeopathic Ledum is very safe for kids, and actually has a higher response rate in kids with Lyme. One dose (one dose = 1 pellet melted under the tongue, for kids up to age 12) daily to start with, see how he does.

My 2 yr old son takes some Whole Food Antioxidants and Omega 3 with DHA supplements in chewable form. Juice Plus comes in a chewable form for kids as well (my son won't eat them but I give them to my daughter).
It can't hurt to work on nutrition and antioxidants.

Thanks for the red flag. I've Aliya's been cautious about herbs but started being more comfortable with them for myself. Children are a different consideration. I'll look into getting to a homeopath or someone else before our LLMD appointment. I mentioned the concern to my pedi a while back and it didn't go over well, so I probably won't be discussing it with that office again.

Keep calling every day to see if the doctor has any cancellations. Other patients have been able to get in earlier when this happens.

Coconut Water is antifungal, antiviral and antiparasitic and is chocked full of vitamins and minerals. It also tastes great over ice or mixed with another juice.

Vitamin C, Vitamin D and Omega 3 Fish Oil (there are chewable gummies for kids) and a probiotic.
I wonder if you could find an integrative family doctor who is Lyme friendly and could get started with some of the testing. It would be nice if you could walk into the LLMD appt with test results so you could hit the ground running.
