I have been experiencing a lot more muscle weakness accompanied by extreme fatigue the past few days. I am not sure if this is because I have been trying to do more and just noticing it more because I have not been very active over the past few months or if this is a new symptom.
Is muscle weakness common with lyme? I am quite concerned.
I am currently on nystatin before I begin my abx. This is my first course of treatment. I begin Abx on Thurs.

uh, yes. it's a big part of it. that said, there could be other causes for the weakness, including neuro, musceloskeletal (pinched nerves, etc.)...

I do have nerve damage in my elbow from years ago which does cause some muscle weakness in my left hand.
But this is more like a total body exhaustion - maybe muscle weakness is not the correct term?

My main lyme symptom was extreme muscle weakness. Because of it, I could only hold a phone to my ear for 30 seconds. I could only stand for 1 minute. I couldn't hold my mouth open to have my teeth cleaned. I dreaded having to rise up from a chair. My legs shook when I walked down a flight of stairs.
This is actually due to lyme attacking the nerves that go to the muscles.
And, fatigue is not a good enough word for the unbelievable, profound, never-ending fatigue. That was a second major symptom I had with lyme disease.

Wow, TF. That's pretty much my symptoms to a T. And you got better?
I've been in treatment for 2 years with a good ILADS LLMD. No where near well. Still can't walk around the block or even have a long phone conversation.

Yes, I got rid of lyme, babs, and bart 7 years ago now. That is when I completed my treatment and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life.
I have the same life I had before lyme disease.
I went undiagnosed at least 10 years.
It may be time for you to look for a smarter doc. Doesn't sound like a whole lot of progress in 2 years. I wasted 2 years with my second doc.
Then, I switched to a 3rd doc and he had me well in 13 months. The doc is the key to getting rid of this disease. Can't emphasize that enough. The doc is the key.
Many doctors treat lyme, but only a few know enough to get rid of it for a person. Your job is to find one of those few. I know a few of them.
I can give you the names of the top ones in my area and the one on the east coast that I consider the best in the nation.
